Founding KISS members, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley and Peter Criss, reunited to lay their former bandmate, Ace Frehley, to rest.
The trio came together for the guitarist’s memorial, in the Bronx borough of New York City, the band’s longtime friend Eddie Trunk shared via Instagram.
“It has been an emotional couple of days to say the least (sic) saying farewell to a rock icon and long time friend,” the SiriusXM personality wrote alongside a memorial prayer card that read, “In Loving Memory of Paul ‘Ace’ D. Frehley.”
“All of the services went as well as they could and were attended by a small group of family and close friends, including the 3 surviving original members of @kissonline,” Trunk added.
The last time Criss, 79, Simmons, 76, Stanley, 73, and Frehley all publicly appeared alongside each other was at the 29th annual Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony in 2014.
The quartet formed KISS in 1973, and have reunited several times throughout the past few decades.
Frehley, born Paul Daniel Frehley, passed way on October 16th at the age of 74. He was reportedly put on life support, after suffering a fall, a couple of weeks prior. TMZ, reported that Frehley had a brain bleed as a result of the fall.

I’ve been wondering how our man Eddie has been since losing Ace.
It’s been a rough year for Eddie. First Sykes now Ace. I know that Ace’s passing hit him especially hard since they were so close. He was sort of “I can call him at 4 a.m” friend. He will pull through as we all do. I’m 52 and on the flip side of grieving loved ones passing it makes me analyze and refocus on my life and what I want to do with the time I (may) have left
Yes, too true. I’m 53 and can relate to what you speak to. Losses of family, close friends and for some, even pets aren’t something you just “get over” as I’ve heard throughout my life. I’ve learned and taken the view that it’s something you absorb and carry within our soul.
I have so many great memories of KI⚡️⚡️/Ace, especially from the 70s, had many KI⚡️⚡️ posters on my walls, including the ’77 Ace Frehley smoking Gibson Les Paul smoking guitar poster! Like many young men in the 70s I wanted to be like Ace, never came close! It’s those awesome memories and the awesome music that keeps and will always keep legends like Ace Frehley alive always and forever!
Well said Doug! I had all the posters also. Kiss in NY and others. I think they should make a movie on Ace. These guys have an very interesting story to tell! What they lived is every bands dream!!
Dana – suggestion for Question of the Week:
How would you like Kiss to honor Ace during the Kennedy Center induction?
Okay, I will make note of it.
