In my humble opinion, that is an excellent idea.
Many an argument can made for some of the positivities of social media, such as direct engagement, announcing projects/tours/news in a very expeditious manner, and of course dispelling rumors, untruths and disinformation.
However, on the flip side, I think social media, has created far more negativity than positivity, unity and creativity. So again, with that premise, I think Coverdale disconnecting to enjoy his life, is the correct, and healthy, decision.
I couldn’t agree more, Dana. If social media and the internet were solely used for good things, it would be one of the best things. Sadly, it has created hatred, fighting, division, lies and now with the advancement of AI, I expect it to just get worse. This site is as close as I come to social media. I do not have any social media accounts.
RPS,
I also have no proper social media accounts either, by that, I mean: no Twitter, no Facebook, no Instagram, no Yotube and no Tiktok (which is owned by China, namely the CCP).
I never had them and never will.
Its difficult to pull away from social media once you’ve been sucked in. I detest Facebook because I know so many people who put up a front on there. I do like following some of the members of my favorite bands though and sometimes they post vintage photos and posts that I find amusing.
As for YouTube I am totally addicted and I don’t like it. I like to say its for the music but I find myself clicking depressing stuff and it has a tendency to turn my day sour. I suppose its all about choice. Be careful what you watch cause you may like it/love it and it may not be good for you/in your best interest
COVERDALE is doing the right thing , there have been recent studies showing repetitive social media engagement screws with people’s cognitive function especially kids and young people , it retards normal social development -once I put down my sticks I will put down social media as well –
