Four mile run this morning, Rainbow was the Playlist for inspiration. My “deep cut” for the day is the song “Black Sheep Of the Family” (a cover song) off the first Rainbow album. Blackmore intended to record this song as a single when he left Deep Purple. But after working with Ronnie James Dio, it led to more songwriting….and the recording/releasing of the first Rainbow album using the musicians in RJD’s previous band, Elf.
Love ‘Em and Leave ‘Em…but I couldn’t get through it…I know Gene liked cartoons but writing a song where he’s Elmer Fudd hunting a rabbit is just too much for me to take…
