As reported yesterday, KISS will be honored with a Kennedy Center honor, along with actor Sylvester Stallone, country singer George Strait, Disco queen Gloria Gaynor and English actor Michael Crawford, who starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s Phantom Of The Opera, on Broadway.
Upon hearing the news, members of KISS have released statements.
Simmons told TMZ, “KISS is the embodiment of the American Dream. We are deeply honored to receive the Kennedy Center Honor.”
Stanley stated, “From our earliest days, KISS has embodied the American ideal that all things are possible and that hard work pays off. The prestige of the Kennedy Center Honors cannot be overstated and I accept this on behalf of the long legacy of KISS and all of the band members who helped create our iconic band.”
Frehley called the honor “a dream come true that I never thought would materialize.”
Criss said, “I feel so blessed. This is the greatest honor of our career.”
The Kennedy Center previewed the announcement Tuesday, writing in a post on X, “A country music icon, an Englishman, a New York City Rock band, a dance Queen and a multi-billion dollar Actor walk into the Kennedy Center Opera House…”
The airing of the ceremony is to be announced, and as soon as details are released, they will be updated.

Ok … getting this off chest…and not political just observation…This is going to be a time in history and no matter what your political views are ..long live rock!!!!!
Mike,
My sincerest apologies, I had to edit your comment.
Despite your writing, “not political, just observation,” the tone seemed political to me. As I have written too many times before, no more politics on the site. This is a music site, and music only.
Thank you for your understanding.
Sorry Dana….just frustrated…cause either politician or musician… they are public servants .. because they rely on our $$$ to make a living. So if we as the public refuse to remove our blinders…than it’s all going to go away…this is the last post…on this subject I will write…again am sorry I broke the rules .. it will never happen again. Long live free speech…and rock and roll!!!!!!
No apologies necessary, it is very frustrating.
Plus, I hate to be lectured to, and judged by, those who I feel are so detached from life’s reality, or have opinions on policies of countries, they have never even visited.
Even worse? When public figures, disparage our Nation, while in another country, it’s despicable.
Okay enough, my BP is rising again-LOL!
One cool thing is Michael Crawford is being honored the same night as Kiss.
Crawford was the original Phantom of the Opera.
Paul Stanley also played Phantom of the Opera and should be a nice bonding moment for both of them.
It could be said that Paul was the “Tommy Thayer” of the Phantom of the Opera 🙂 (I joke, I joke).
