ALL FOUR ORIGINAL MEMBERS OF KISS COMMENT ON THEIR FORTHCOMING KENNEDY CENTER HONOR

As reported yesterday, KISS will be honored with a Kennedy Center honor, along with actor Sylvester Stallone, country singer George Strait, Disco queen Gloria Gaynor and English actor Michael Crawford, who starred in Andrew Lloyd Webber‘s Phantom Of The Opera, on Broadway.

Upon hearing the news, members of KISS have released statements.

Simmons told TMZ, “KISS is the embodiment of the American Dream. We are deeply honored to receive the Kennedy Center Honor.”

Stanley stated, “From our earliest days, KISS has embodied the American ideal that all things are possible and that hard work pays off. The prestige of the Kennedy Center Honors cannot be overstated and I accept this on behalf of the long legacy of KISS and all of the band members who helped create our iconic band.”

Frehley called the honor “a dream come true that I never thought would materialize.”

Criss said, “I feel so blessed. This is the greatest honor of our career.”

The Kennedy Center previewed the announcement Tuesday, writing in a post on X, “A country music icon, an Englishman, a New York City Rock band, a dance Queen and a multi-billion dollar Actor walk into the Kennedy Center Opera House…”

The airing of the ceremony is to be announced, and as soon as details are released, they will be updated.

  1. The greatest American rock and roll band of all time. I won’t get philosophical about Kiss now, but it was so cool hearing Trump read each of their names.

    1. Kiss is a deep band, and the fact that it’s 3rd grade and up just shows the complete genius of it. A 3rd grader, on some deep level will get Kiss over any other band. The Beatles could do that, but that’s the only other band I can think of.

  2. This is a much higher honor than the RRHOF! The fact that PAUL STANLEY acknowledges it in a very grateful, humble and appreciative way, despite his political rants over the years, tells me all I need to know. This is a big deal. Congratulations to Kiss! The big question is who will be honoring them? I’m going with Sebastian Bach, Tom Morello, Poison and Black N Blue (Tom Thayer’s band lol)!

    1. RPS,

Bret Michaels is not against the President.

As for the rest, on that list, they should all take a cue from Michaels, and keep their political opinions to themselves.

Most of the populace, is sick, and tired of being lectured to, by spoiled, elitist, uneducated “artists,” who live in gated communities, and have armed private security. How can they possibly relate to their audience members?

I have two words for them: Johnny Carson. Carson roasted everyone equally, and no one knew what his political affiliation was, although, I read years ago, he was a Dem. I would have had no clue, because as I stated, he was far more fair, and balanced, with his comedy.

Finally, alienating more than half your audience, is just a foolish business decision, especially considering most of the musicians, actors, athletes and “comedians,” would fail a basic civics course.

    2. You’re exactly right Dana! First rule of business: don’t alienate your customers or give them any reason to go elsewhere.

    3. Also, no offense, but some of those musicians, can no longer afford lose, more than half their audience. Even in their prime, it would be an imbecilic decision.

    4. Maybe I am too sensitive about the opinions of other celebrities, but I will never again buy another W.A.S.P. album or see them in concert because of Blackie Lawless’ airing his political views and him turning some shows on the last W.A.S.P. tour into political rallies. Similarly, I will never again buy another Queensryche album with Todd La Torre as vocalist or a concert with him performing because of La Torre’s negative criticisms about religion. And same goes for the band Anvil because of Lips calling Americans “lazy” and his crazy claim that the downing of the World Trade Center being a “demolition job” and not by attack of the hijacked jets that crashed into it.

I know Ted Nugent is polarizing with his comments, but for some reason his comments don’t bother me…and I’m not sure why…..

    5. I agree,

There should never be any politics in entertainment nor sports. As I wrote before, there should be a Johnny Carson rule, where the less one says the better, or you must be egalitarian with your criticisms.

Furthermore, it is perfectly reasonable, to not put forth your hard earned money, to any artist, who has annoyed you. That is your right, as an American, who has a free commerce system without a personal credit score, such as China. Actually, voting with one’s wallet, is the consumer’s way of bearing what the market will allow, see Bud Light.

Thank God, most of the musicians, and bands, that I love, have said nothing. It seems most of the ons, I never liked, or despised, are the most vocal.

  3. Spot on guys.
Just shut up and sing – no politics needed.

Will be interesting to see who will be performing and what songs (hopefully they do not try for a rehash of Kiss My Ass Tributes).
I could see Dave Grohl in the mix due to his friendship with Stanley.

    1. Hello, Mr. Raccoonwig,

Unfortunately, Grohl is another loudmouth hater.

I would be very surprised, if has the fortitude, class and maturity, to put aside his animus, for one evening. Perhaps, I will be proven incorrect, it remains to be seen.

Personally, I would be elated, if it did not play a part, in this tribute. He seems to be involved in far too many music celebrations, and comes across, as though he is the Paris Hilton of rock. He will attend an envelope opening. Another one, I could live without, Tom Morello.

I just hope, whoever participates, does an fine job.

    2. The Paris Hilton of Rock – LOL – thats hot.
I agree on Grohl and Morello as well as whoever does perform – does well – bonus if it is more of an obscure song they make their own and it blows the crowd (and Kiss) away. We all know RARAN will be the shows closer.

  4. I wonder if Peter is going to be selling pictures of himself with people? Or tickets to a second last show of him playing drums ever. It is hard to listen to some of these great artists music, after they become so unlikable with their ranting.I try not listen to them talk because I do like some of their music. It was a different experience listening to music in the 70s and 80s, where you only could look at the album cover of the artist. You didn’t know a whole lot about them.

    1. George,

It seems the days of being subtle, and selective with verbiage, are long gone. We are now in an age, of social media, where many times, foolishness is on daily display, and written opinions, back by biased talking points, with little, to no fact research, are the norm.

I wish we could return, to the good old days of entertainers, doing just that…entertaining.
