AEROSMITH RETIRE FROM TOURING, AS STEVEN TYLER CONTINUES TO SUFFER FROM ONGOING VOCAL ISSUES

Aerosmith announced they are retiring from touring after five decades together, revealing their legendary lead singer Steven Tyler’s voice cannot recover from his injury.

Tyler has been suffering from ongoing vocal cord and larynx problems that the 76-year-old singer can’t bounce back from.

In September 2023, Aerosmith postponed their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour after discovering that Tyler’s vocal injury was “more serious than initially thought.”

In their retirement announcement, the band said that everyone with a ticket to the tour will be refunded. At the time of postponement, Tyler said he was “heartbroken” to push the tour.

Tyler’s injury happened during the third show in New York on September 10th, 2023, in which he “sustained vocal cord damage,” which “led to subsequent bleeding.”

The band has posted the following statement to their Instagram page:

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 with Tyler, Joe Perry, Ray Tabano, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer. Brad Whitford later replaced Tabano

The band — known for classics like Dream On, Love in an Elevator and Janie’s Got a Gun — has won four Grammys. They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

  1. The line that jumps out at me is “retiring from the touring stage.” I have to wonder if they are leaving the door open to recording new music (singles?) or the one-off live performances…

Bon Jovi seem like they’re headed in that direction as well.

  2. Axl Rose saved an AC/DC tour………and would make a worthy substitute for Mother Tyler. Maybe have some other guest vocalists on some tunes.
Vince Neil could do a few.
I’m running out of bad ideas…….little help please.

  3. Silas, it would never happen cuz Steven Tyler is too iconic to be replaced as Aerosmith’s vocalist, but I think Tom Kiefer could do a good job being Aerosmith’s frontman. But, of course, I don’t think the public would buy it cuz it’s not Steven Tyler.

    1. Yep, some people are irreplaceable and unreplaceable, by anybody, and Steven Tyler is 1 of them.
