AEROSMITH RETIRE FROM TOURING, AS STEVEN TYLER CONTINUES TO SUFFER FROM ONGOING VOCAL ISSUES

Aerosmith announced they are retiring from touring after five decades together, revealing their legendary lead singer Steven Tyler’s voice cannot recover from his injury.

Tyler has been suffering from ongoing vocal cord and larynx problems that the 76-year-old singer can’t bounce back from.

In September 2023, Aerosmith postponed their Peace Out: The Farewell Tour after discovering that Tyler’s vocal injury was “more serious than initially thought.”

In their retirement announcement, the band said that everyone with a ticket to the tour will be refunded. At the time of postponement, Tyler said he was “heartbroken” to push the tour.

Tyler’s injury happened during the third show in New York on September 10th, 2023, in which he “sustained vocal cord damage,” which “led to subsequent bleeding.”

The band has posted the following statement to their Instagram page:

Aerosmith was formed in 1970 with Tyler, Joe Perry, Ray Tabano, Tom Hamilton, and Joey Kramer. Brad Whitford later replaced Tabano

The band — known for classics like Dream On, Love in an Elevator and Janie’s Got a Gun — has won four Grammys. They were also inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2001.

  1. I own a lot of Aerosmith cd’s and I’ve seen them a couple of times. They’ve always put on a great performance. I was never a super fan and as I’ve gotten older I’ve moved on to other bands that are more appealing to my tastes. But I give these guys a standing ovation for being one of the greatest rock bands of all time. And what’s most impressive is how they are bowing out gracefully and with respect to not only their legacy but with respect to their fans unlike several other bands who should’ve quit a long time ago.

  2. I wonder if they will still be recording new music. The last Aerosmith album I owned/cared for was “Done With Mirrors”. I would much rather have them make a copy of ” Rocks” with copied twisted-around riffs then the boring, safe housewife rock band they became on record
