Frehley passed on as a result of blunt trauma to the head due to a fall.
According to the Morris County, New Jersey Medical Examiner’s report, the guitarist suffered a fracture to the back of his skull, a subdural hematoma — a collection of blood formed between the brain’s protective outer layer and the brain itself. Additional bruises were found on the musician’s hip, thigh, and abdomen and he also suffered a stroke. His manner of death was ruled an accident.
Frehley was laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Bronx, New York.

I’m a little confused.. did he have the stroke then fall, or the other way around?
Ask the chicken and the egg. 🙂
On a serious note, I got the feeling the fall caused the bleed, which in turn caused the stroke. I could be wrong, but that I how I interpreted it.
To Dana’s point, it really could be either stroke first, or stroke caused by the hematoma (caused by the fall).
My dad had a fall a number of years ago (he eventually turned out fine), injured his head and had a minor hematoma, and the doctor drained the bleeding. If they hadn’t drained the bleeding, he stood an increased chance of a stroke.
The sad irony with Ace is that back in the ’70s he and the band used to joke that Ace had a horrible sense of balance, and he used to say it was because he wasn’t used to the gravity on Earth.
I took it the same way as Dana – more tragic. RIP (It Out) Ace!
Only thing I take solace in is Ace is buried in the neighborhood where I grew up.
(He is in good company with Miles Davis – Duke Ellington and others).
Didn’t he have somebody living with him? If he had a stroke/fell down the stairs previously I was wondering if he had anyone to watch over him.
Its so sad the way ace passed , Dana i think your probably right about what caused the stroke. And no matter how he fell or what caused it , we lost another legend ~
we talk a lot about Tommy on here impersonating Ace…but, I watched of that Vegas show on youtube, and Tommy was just on fire…I’ll be honest, I got emotional hearing his tribute to Ace Frehley…
