Mötley Crüe has added another major milestone to its legendary career as Kickstart My Heart has officially surpassed one billion streams on Spotify, earning the track a place in the platform’s coveted Billions Club. The band joins some of the most legendary names in rock in this elite group, including Ozzy Osbourne, Black Sabbath, Metallica, Aerosmith and Led Zeppelin.
One of the band’s most recognizable and enduring songs, Kickstart My Heart has continued to connect with generations of fans more than three decades after its original release. The track remains a major cornerstone of Mötley Crüe‘s catalog and live show, while its presence across film, television, advertising, gaming, and digital platforms has introduced the song to new audiences around the world.
The billion-stream achievement comes amid a run of major catalog milestones for Mötley Crüe. The band recently earned more than 9.5 million units in new RIAA certifications, with Kickstart My Heart reaching double platinum and the Dr. Feelgood album advancing from six times platinum to nine times platinum.
Additional new certifications include platinum awards for Dr. Feelgood, Girls, Girls, Girls and Home Sweet Home, as well as gold certifications for Wild Side, Shout At The Devil, Looks That Kill and Live Wire.
The members of Mötley Crüe said in a joint statement, “It’s truly an honor to be standing with such amazing artists. Thanks to all the fans, BMG and Spotify.”
The latest achievements underscore the continued strength of Mötley Crüe‘s catalog since BMG took over the catalog in 2022, with the new certification levels reflecting consumption during that period.
Michael Kachko, BMG‘s SVP, global catalog recorded, hard rock, said: “One billion streams for Kickstart My Heart, alongside an epic run of new RIAA certifications, is a testament to the enduring power of Mötley Crüe‘s music. Decades later, this catalog continues to reach new fans and achieve new milestones, and we’re incredibly proud to help carry that legacy forward.”
The milestone also arrives as Mötley Crüe celebrates its 45th anniversary and prepares to revisit the album that started it all. The band recently announced a 45th anniversary limited edition of its landmark 1981 debut, Too Fast For Love, set for release October 30th through BMG. For the first time, the original Leathür Records version of the album will also be made available on streaming services.
Mötley Crüe recently wrapped its massive summer amphitheater run, The Return Of The Carnival Of Sins tour, which marked the band’s first full tour in three years.
