QUESTION OF THE WEEK: REGARDLESS OF YOUR CHRONOLOGICAL AGE, IF YOU COULD GO BACK IN TIME, WHAT CONCERTS WOULD YOU HAVE ATTENDED?

Judas Priest‘s Screaming For Vengeance tour, Whitesnake‘s Slide It In tour., Ozzy‘s Bizzard of Ozz tour and Van Halen‘s 1984 tour. I would have also liked to have seen Mötley Crüe on their Shout At The Devil tour, which I think they were opening for Ozzy on his Bark At The Moon tour.

  1. Concerts I said oh well I’m short on $, I’ll see them next tour: Van Halen in 1984. We all know what happened. Johnny Thunders in 1990. Died months later. For shows when I was too young or not born yet: Any Led Zeppelin concert. SLADE in their prime. Queen in the 70s. Sex Pistols reunion 1996 (I still kick myself. I spent lots of dough on Kiss reunion tickets for shows over 5 states). Slayer with Dave. Never seen them, refuse to without Dave Lombardo. Beatles at Shea. Grand Funk in the early 70s. I can keep going!

  2. Time Machine? I’d start off by seeing Pink Floyd with Syd Barret. Next stop would be a visit with Jimi Hendrix. After that, I’d swing by and say hey to The Doors. Then I’d head over to see early Deep Purple when they had Rod Evens singing. Then I’d visit the classic DP lineup with Ian. After that, I’d go check out the mighty Zeppelin during their Song remains the same era. Then I’d swing by Pink Floyd again during their Wish you were here tour. Somewhere in there, I’d want to see Uriah Beep, BOC, and Van Halen. AC/DC is another must see, preferably on the Let there be rock and Highway to Hell tours. Any and all Black Sabbath shows prior to the Never Say Die era.

    After that, I think I’d have to fast forward a bit to the US fest. Had a friend with an extra ticket and I could have gone, but my mom said no, and for the one and only time in my life, I obeyed lol

    Other bands I wish I had seen;
    Venom
    Early Slayer during their first couple albums.
    Early Judas Priest, Sad Wings thru Defenders of the Faith. Yup missed every show during that time. Hell my first time seeing them was with Ripper Owens sadly. Great show but not the same.
    Dio fronted Black Sabbath
    Dio, Sacred Heart tour

    Really too many to list, and I’m sure after I hit “post comment” I’ll think of some more obvious ones. I mean there are countless European metal fests I’d kill to go see. Hundreds of smaller bands I love that I never got to see. Thankfully I’ve seen many great bands and shows though too, so can’t bitch too much.

    1. WN,

      Defenders Of The Faith was my very first Priest show, and my very first Metal concert. Too bad it was the infamous one, where the fans destroyed the seats at MSG, earning Priest a lifetime ban-LOL!

      BRING BACK THE 80s!

    2. You’re so lucky to have been there though! That’s historic but I bet was a bit scary. Especially as your first metal concert lol Lucky it didn’t scare you away from metal forever.

      I did think of one more show I wish I could have gone too, and I can’t believe I didn’t include it on my first post. Really wish I could have swung that last Ozzy/Sabbath show last year. I came real close to maxing out my credit card for that show, but talked myself out of it at the last minute. After seeing it during the live broadcast, I should have pulled that trigger and gone to the show.
