QUESTION OF THE WEEK: IN HONOR OF THANKSGIVING, WHAT MUSIC, OR MUSIC RELATED ITEM, ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR, IN 2025?

Well, regarding musicians, in my humble opinion, this year had been terrible. Sadly, we have lost many iconic talents, such as, Ozzy Osbourne, Ace Frehley, John James Sykes, as well as, others.

But, with that “said,” off the top of my head, I am grateful to, The Kelly Clarkson Show, for introducing me to Whiskey Myers, and to Wolfgang Van Halen, for going against the large grain by proving, that some nepo babies, can have immense talent.

It seems that, especially in the music space, it is has been extraordinarily difficult for progenies, to follow in their parent’s footsteps. Also, in many cases, sorry to have to write this, but many are not very good.

While I understand, being the child of a famous musician, must be very difficult, especially a very influential one, such as a member of The Beatles (who, in my opinion, only produced one talented offspring, Julian Lennon), there have been rare occasions, where we have had, some talented children. So, once again, thank you to Wolfgang Van Halen, who has beaten the odds, in the most spectacular way.

Can you think of any other progenies who have been successful? Two others, that come to mind, as I type this, are, Jason Bonham and Wilson Phillips (the 90s singing group, made up of Chyna Phillips (daughter of John and Michelle Phillips of The Mamas And The Papas) and Carnie and Wendy Wilson (daughters of Beach Boy, Brian Wilson). Also, whether you think Wilson Phillips were talented, is subjective, but they did have rather large commercial success).

Finally, Happy Turkey Day everyone. Hope you fill your bellies with treats, and end your day, with stuffed smiles.

  1. Hmm… well as far as music goes I’m grateful and thankful for my Bose sound bar! It makes watching my music DVD’s so much more enjoyable! Oh and of course “The Revenge of Alice Cooper!”

  2. I’m grateful that Black Sabbath was able to perform one last time with all the original members prior to Ozzy Osbourne becoming an Angel. I am also grateful for the outpouring of love that was expressed for both Ozzy Osbourne and Ace Frehley after their passings. While both tragic, the music world really expressed their love and admiration for both of them. It was awesome reading and hearing all the tributes from all around the world for these two music legends.
