Never heard of Whiskey Myers before, but apparently they have been around for a long time. Thought I would post the performance, enjoy. It kind of reminds me of Silvertide, whom I really liked. For reference I posted Silvertide‘s video for their song, Ain’t Comin’ Home, below

Hi Dana
Not bad; might check out some of their other stuff. I had heard of Silvertide; are they Australian?
Speaking of Australian bands, have you ever heard of Powderfinger? I think that they split up a few years ago; they may have made a comeback and I just haven’t heard of it. Anyway, here’s the song that I first heard back in 2004 which introduced me to them (21 years ago, my god where has it gone!)

Another band I heard around the same time came from Sweden by the name of The Quill; in fact I think they were on the same compilation CD I got with a copy of Classic Rock Magazine. The song was called American Powder; and here it is:

Have a listen and tell me what you think – Enjoy!!
Silvertide, is American, they are from Pennsylvania, like Richie Kotzen.
Also, I promise, I will listen to these clips a little later, and let you know, what I think, thanks!
Okay, just listened. I definitely liked the The Quill, that was retro and good.
As for Powderfinger, the music was good, but I did not care for the cross over Lou Reed, 80s new wave vocals, but that is just me.
Jet was a great Australian band, outside of AC/DC and Airbourne. Here is an example (more cowbell-LOL): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gX7bUXQsHLY
Hello again, my Brit bud,
I ran across some other Whisky Myers tunes that are good: I Got To Move and Tailspin.
I think I like them because the singer, reminds me a lot of Ron Young of Little Caesar who is one of my all time favorite vocalists. I also happen to like the band, Little Caesar, in general.
Silvertide, such a shame they didn’t work out. The debut album from 2004 entitled Show & Tell was the best debut album I had heard since Appetite For Destruction. I still listen to it regularly. I’ve tried to follow where those guys went musically and it’s pretty much useless trying. Again a real shame because they were awesome.
I’m familiar with Whisky Myers as my wife discovered the song Reckoning a few years back. Great voice, great songwriter.
Hi RPS,
I agree, I have Show And Tell, and it is a good one. Devil’s Daughter, which is right after, Ain’t Comin’ Home, is another great song. It is a shame, that they just sort of, sadly, came and went.
Not sure how long ago it was, but we did post a press release, about the guitarist, Nick Perri, for the music news. Let me see if I can locate it for you…hold music playing.
I found it, it was published on July 27th, 2020. Click on the highlighted headline to read it: Former Silvertide Guitarist Nick Perri, And His Band, The Underground Thieves Announce Live Stream Album Release Show.
As for Whisky Myers, did your wife discover the band from watching the series, Yellowstone? I read online, that their music was featured (prominently?) on the show, and they opened for The Rolling Stones. Had it not been for watching Kelly Clarkson‘s show, I would still be naive about this band. I absolutely love the singer’s voice, and I found out his name is, Cody, the same as my Yorkshire Terrier, so how can I not love him?
Hi Dana! Yes, she discovered Whisky Myers on Yellowstone! Thank you for the Nick Perri article! I’ll check it out. And the hold music was great!
Hi Dana, me again!!
You like what you like and you don’t what you don’t.
The reason I asked if Silvertide were Australian was because my brother liked a band from there that had Silver in their name. Having since spoken to him about them, he informed me that they were called Silverchair; and that’s where I was getting it mixed up.
Funny thing is, having taken another look at Silvertide, I realised that on the same CD that I got to hear Powderfinger and The Quill, I also heard them with a song called Foxhole Jesus Christ. Again, 21-years-ago!!! More frightening is that I’m going to be 47 next Tuesday – and if I hadn’t been reminded of it earlier today I would have forgotten because I’ve seemingly lost all sense of time where it’s moving so fast!! (I also find birthdays to be a bit tedious and unnecessary after the age of about 12!)
Yes, I remember Silverchair. They were sort of a one hit wonder, and their song, Tomorrow, was kind of grungy/Nirvanaish, with some lyric about a “boy” in their chorus, hold on I will get the exact lyric. Here it is “You gonna wait too, fat boy Fat boy.Wait ’til tomorrow.”
As for your age, 47? You are a baby, my friend, I am nine years older than you, and I agree about time flying…scary. If I forget, since my memory has gone to poop, in advance, let me wish you the happiest of birthdays. Cheers!
Well I’m impressed! Wow, I never heard of Whiskey Myers before either, what a pleasant surprise! I like all 3 songs, especially “I Got To Move”
Other cover songs that come to mind that I enjoy more than the originals are:
Baby, Please Don’t Go – Ted Nugent
God Gave Rock and Roll to You – KI$$
All Along the Watchtower – Jimi Hendrix
All the Young Dudes – David Bowie
Rattle,
I think this was meant for the cover thread, but while you are here, please give this a listen.
