Wow, you are so lucky. I envy anyone who has seen Rhoads.
I recently read an article where Ozzy was interviewed in 2020 and was asked “What epitaph would you like to have for your grave?”. Ozzy replied “Bats taste like s–t.”
LOL!!! It would have been even funnier, if he said “tastes like Sharon.”
That is what I am going to miss most, about Ozzy, is his wicked sense of humor. As much as I love his music, I actually loved his public persona, even more. I found him funnier than most professional comics, as he always made me laugh, and I adored his dimples.
Yes, I am one of the lone females, who thought he was a very handsome man. He reminded me of my grandpa, who also happened to be half British.
That must’ve been a great show! I feel similar, that it feels like losing a fun & comforting friend that’s always there for me when I need it most. Even when I don’t know I need it. There he is , just at that right time to pick me up & help drive me forward to the next moment. Felt like that when Neil Peart passed.
It’s been a couple days now. I drove up to Seattle from NWOR Wednesday am-to see the Brewers kill the Mariner’s streak- with my wife & teen daughter. We listened to Ozzy the whole way there and back. I really miss him and while I regret not seeing him more live in the 80’s & 90’s, I’m grateful the times I did. He was a great performer, had a great voice and made brilliant fun of almost everyone. I’m a Believer!!
Watching the time go
And feeling belief grow
Rise above the obstacles
People beseech me
But they’ll never teach me
Things that I already know (I know)
Dreams that have shattered
May not have mattered
Take another point of view
Doubts will arise, though
Like chasing a rainbow
I can tell a thing or two (That’s true)
You’ve got to believe in yourself
Or no one will believe in you
Imagination like a bird on the wing
Flying free for you to use (OK baby)
I can’t believe they stop and stare
And point their fingers, doubting me
Their disbelief suppresses them
But they’re not blind
It’s just that they won’t see
I’m a believer
I ain’t no deceiver
Mountains move before my eyes
Destiny planned out
I don’t need no handout
Speculation of the wise
Saw him four times as a solo artist…….Once with Randy Rhoads, once with Brad Gillis, and twice with Jake E Lee. Always a great entertainer. And saw him once with Sabbath…..on “The End” tour.
I saw him twice, one with Zakk, on his No More Beers tour, and one with the Sabbath reunion in 1999.
Again, I envy all those who saw Rhoads.
When I was in law school in 2017, I took a break and went to Chicago Open Air; stayed at a nice hotel, Chicago is such a great city, you can have a great time by yourself, the people are great. Thursday night I checked the vibrant local music scene and saw a great cover band, had this nice woman ride me around in a bike carriage. Then Friday I would get up about 9, have a nice breakfast at the hotel and get to Wrigley field at about 11 an, and stay all day. You can’t leave until it ends so it becomes its own world. Last time I saw Kiss was that night, Saturday, Korn closed it. There was a Satanic theme throughout the whole event with the merch, most of the bands, and the people in the crowd. But then Ozzy closed the event and it was like God had the last word…I actually almost cried, it was so beautiful seeing Ozzy and feeling him, he was right there in front of me. Ozzy could connect with a crowd because it was really his soul he was putting out there…I have tears running down my face now …God Bless you Ozzy, I hope you ended up somewhere nice.
Thanks for that run of video Dana. I’d not seen that Rock N Roll rebel video. Loved seeing Bob Daisley on stage, looked like a perfect fit. Jake E. Lee was such a cool looking guitar player. The Live Aid video was great too. Cheers & thanks
You’re welcome, I had never seen it, either. I searched the song, because I love it. Agreed, about Daisley, he was, no pun intended, very instrumental in Ozzy’s musical success.
