9/9: MOTLEY IN OK, ALTER BRIDGE, JERICHO, NEW BOOK, MORE!

Great to have football back, not so great start for my Giants. But things can be fixed and there were some positives so too early to panic. Just love having NFL back!

Going to be recording an interview with Ted Nugent later tonight. It will air in a future recorded show. Been a long time since I spoke with Ted, look forward to it. Even if I don’t agree with everything some people say, I love and respect people who aren’t afraid to say how they feel, and Ted certainly fits that category. But I most want to discuss what is overlooked these days with Ted, his MUSIC. He’s also featured in my new book by the way!

Very close to finally launching an all new merch store here on this site. Some cool T’s, hats and more will finally be made available here just in time for the holidays. Hope you like the stuff and appreciate your support. Coming very soon as I just approved all the designs for the merch company. Pre orders will be taken soon.

 

Waiting to hear from VH1 about the next moves for TMS. They are deciding now when and where we will do them likely in the Fall. More when I know.

 

Was just sent an advance of my new book. After all the work it’s awesome to finally hold it and see the finished product. Like the 1st book my publisher did an amazing job with the quality and layout. It’s an amazing value at a retail list of $19.99 with Amazon now taking pre orders way below that. If you liked book one this will be the perfect companion as it is a direct sequel. Can’t wait for the NYC launch 9/24 at the Hard Rock and the signing tour. Football is here! Nothing better than settling in for the games. Season goes by so quick, seemed like forever to start up the games again. Psyched for this Sunday, GO GIANTS!

9/4: VEGAS RECAP, WINGER, SINNERS, ALTER BRIDGE, JERICHO, MORE

Just back from a long Labor Day weekend in Vegas, some fun mixed with some work and meetings. In all my years of going to Vegas never saw the city as busy as it was. Good for the economy there, not good for me, since I decided to bring the family with me for the first time ever. But it was still a good time and the kids enjoyed Blue Man Group (thanks Blas Elias), Beatles Love, and the tigers & dolphins at Mirage. Needless to say a VERY different Vegas trip than most for me! Hosted Winger Saturday night and they were truly sounding great! The band is now a 5 piece with the return of Paul Taylor and at times even had three guitars going. Amazing full sound and the vocals were all spot on (and 100% real!). Truly an incredibly talented band that I think are finally emerging from the 80’s Beavis & Butthead backlash and rightfully being viewed as such. Good to see them all and look forward to seeing them on the MOR cruise again next year. Drivin & Cryin and Hericane Alice also turned in solid set in support. Thanks to Chuck Brennan and Dollar Loan Centers for having me host and putting on this free show in Vegas.

 

Sunday I hosted a Black Sabbath after party (Sabbath played Vegas Sunday night) at Vamp’d with Sin City Sinners. Great club and great band that did all metal. One of my favorite places to visit is this venue, and Sinners always fun to see live. Did a little live Stump The Trunk and then hung with everyone. Thanks to all the great fans that came out. Two back to back 3A nights but it was a blast. Also hanging at Vamp’d were Chris Holmes of WASP fame and Jake E Lee. Good to catch up with both of them. Heard Jake was not welcome to see Ozzy & Sabbath by a certain someone because he talked about his lack of getting writing credit on Bark At The Moon on TMS. Beyond sad and pathetic… Was great to see Jake and heard 9 songs from the new album that are really starting to take shape. Red Dragon Cartel now scheduled to come out early 2014.

 

Also had a great night hanging with The Conspirators (Todd Kerns, Frank Sidoris and Brent Fitz) along with Stacy Blades and members of Adelitas Way at Sammy Hagar’s place. Good all night rock geek talk! And thanks to Ron Mancuso for a great meal at the legendary Bootleggers Bistro. I’ll be back in Vegas the weekend of 10/4 at Vinyl at Hard Rock Casino starting at 6:30 for a signing for my new book before Motley plays The Joint.

 

Speaking of Motley I will be hosting 3 dates with them next week in OK. If coming be sure to say hi. There will be meet and greets for sure in Durant and Miami and both dates will also have my 1st book for sale that I will be happy to sign. More details soon on this but will be at all 3 dates!

8/28: VEGAS, 30TH PARTY, PRIEST, WELCOME CRYSTAL LAKE IL, RADIO SHOWS.

Thanks to all who have entered to win tickets for the big 30th Anniversary bash on 10/23 at The Hard Rock Cafe with The Winery Dogs and special guests! As we get closer to the event hope to announce some special stuff and I have one thing I can now confirm! As you know, for my 25th Priest played the private party. What you may not know is that concert, which saw Priest stripped down and in street clothes playing a kick ass 60 minute set, was pro filmed. It has never been seen and will not ever be released or aired anywhere. However I have managed to get the video and approval to show it at the 30th event! Pretty much the only way you can ever see this historic performance from the Metal Gods and will be a great way to kick off the night 10/23 before the performances start. It will also be a great way to include Priest in the night and remember the special night that was the 25th party. So if you get in, you will get to see this exclusive screening that night as well! More surprises to come. You can still enter on the banner on the site for tickets. We have a computer program that will pick around 50 fans a week that enter at random, and send confirmation letters. If you get a confirmation you are in. If you don’t, you are not. But don’t fear as this process will go for a while. If you win by listening and calling in to my Q104 show you are in also. Headed to Vegas for Labor Day weekend. Hosting a Winger show Saturday and a metal night with Sin City Sinners at Vampd Sunday night after Sabbath. 8/27: ALL DETAILS & FULL BAND LIST FOR MY NEW BOOK HERE!

I’m now less than a month away from the release of my second book Eddie Trunk’s Essential Hard Rock & Heavy Metal VOL 2. Thanks to all who purchased my first book in 2011 my publisher asked for another, and I was happy to do it. So many bands I love got cut out of book one for space, so it was easy to come up with another 35 main chapter bands for VOL 2. Now that this one is done I’m already bummed about bands cut from this for space, so maybe VOL 3 one day? But I’m getting ahead of myself! VOL 2 is the exact same format as the first book which many told me they loved with a forward by Slash. Easy reading, playlists, cool exclusive photos, and much more. It’s the same publisher (Abrams) as book one, so it looks and feels like the sequel it’s intended to be. The official release is 9/24 physical and digital wherever books are sold. Pre Orders now on Amazon at a special low price. The first leg of my nationwide signing tour is listed on the home page with more cities and stops to come. And of course the first book is still available now anywhere you buy books physical and digital (Itunes also). You can also still buy book 1 direct from me if you’d like it signed and personalized. Portnoy called to discuss Winery Dogs playing my 30th party but of course all the news that came from the interview was about a simple quick question about Dream Theater I asked at the end.
