STONE TEMPLE PILOTS PART WAYS WITH SINGER SCOTT WEILAND

STPStone Temple Pilots have announced that they have decided to part ways with singer Scott Weiland.

“Stone Temple Pilots have announced they have officially terminated Scott Weiland,” was all the press release stated regarding the band’s decision. It is unclear at the present time if they plan on carry on with a new vocalist.

Oddly enough, Scott Weiland told Rolling Stone yesterday (February 26th) that “STP has not broken up, I haven’t quit. I haven’t been fired.” The rumors began a couple of months ago when Slash said in an interview that the band had fired the singer.

“Slash doesn’t know anything about STP,” Weiland continued yesterday. “We’re talking right now about when we want to tour next.” But he did admit that the group has been going through a rocky period. “There were some hurt egos,” he says. “But that’s the way it is. No one has ever fired anybody in STP. We’re like a family. It’s also a partnership. I started the band. We’ve always kept things going. We’ve taken time off before. They’ve done their own projects and I fully support that. No one has been fired and I haven’t quit. That’s all hearsay.”

In the meantime, Weiland will be launching a solo tour next month focusing almost entirely on material from the first two STP albums.

Here we go again. Its the same old story. The ones you see on VH1’s Behind the Music. Member of a rock band , now its the Stone Temple Pilots turn, gets fired by the members because he’s a drunk or a drug addict or both and can’t get a grip on reality. When are these guys going to get it and grow up. A lot of them go on to die as well. Maybe I don’t know the whole story but I can bet you that its part or all of the same old script. Fredy Mecury’s song title say it better: “Another One Bites The Dust”. I rest my case.

Scott Weiland is one of the best rock singers of the 1990s, fronting one of the best rock groups of the 1990s. Whatever problems they have right now (if any?) can be worked out. They did it before when Scott needed help for the drug additctions and they can do it again here, for whatever reason this is happening. I was really happy to see STP get back together for the last album and I liked it a lot. I really hope this new situation is all BS and that they can work it out. I really would like to hear some new STP.
