JON BON JOVI DISCUSSES HIS CURRENT RELATIONSHIP WITH FORMER GUITARIST RICHIE SAMBORA, BAND’S NEW ALBUM, “FOREVER” DUE JUNE 7TH, FIRST SINGLE “LEGENDARY” OUT NOW

Ultimate Classic Rock‘s Bryan Rolli reports:

Jon Bon Jovi has not been in contact with former bandmate and guitarist Richie Sambora, despite both musicians participating in the upcoming Bon Jovi docuseries Thank You Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story.

The four-part series will debut on April 26th on Hulu and Disney+ internationally. It features various members from Bon Jovi’s past and present, documenting their rise to stardom and precarious future.

When asked if he talked to Sambora about what was going to be in the docuseries, Bon Jovi tells UCR, “Not a word. That was [director] Gotham Chopra. This wasn’t a puff piece and this was no bullshit. This is not us behind the scenes pulling strings. Oh, no, no, no. They interviewed Richie in London. I wasn’t there. I had nothing to do with it. No, I still haven’t seen the [finished] product…”

While Bon Jovi says there is no bad blood, there’s been no communication between them lately. “We’re not in contact because he’s not in the organization any longer,” the singer explains. “Doesn’t mean that there’s not love forever, but it’s 11 years ago that he just didn’t show up anymore. And there were emotional issues that he was dealing with as a single dad, and there were substance abuse issues that, you know … Phil X had to show up one time, and then Phil X had to show up another time. And then, again, there’s a show that night. What are we gonna do?”

Bon Jovi‘s new album, Forever, will be released on June 7th, and is available for pre-order. The band released a video for the first single, Legendary, which can be viewed below.

SEBASTIAN BACH TO RELEASE NEW ALBUM, “CHILD WITHIN THE MAN,” ON MAY 10TH, LYRIC VIDEO FOR SECOND SINGLE, “EVERYBODY BLEEDS” OUT NOW

“An album more than 10 years in the making.” That’s how former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach describes his new solo LP, Child Within The Man, set for release on May 10th through Reigning Phoenix Music.

The 11-track album was recorded in Orlando, Florida; produced and mixed by Michael “Elvis” Baskette; engineered by Jef Moll, assistant engineered by Josh Saldate and mastered by Robert Ludwig of Gateway MasteringBachwrote or co-wrote all the album’s tracks and sang all lead and backing vocals.

Child Within The Man features guest appearances from John 5 (Mötley Crüe, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson), Steve Stevens (Billy Idol) and Orianthi (Alice Cooper, Michael Jackson) — who all co-wrote their respective tracks with Bach — and two tracks co-written with Alter Bridge‘s Myles Kennedy (What Do I Got to Lose? (listen to the single here) and To Live Again). Devin Bronson (guitars),Todd Kerns (bass) and Jeremy Colson (drums) round out the players on the album. The album will be available on jewelcase CD, cassette, and double LP in a variety of color options.

March 15th also marks the release of Sebastian‘s first-ever lyric performance video for the album’s latest single, Everybody Bleeds. The song — with lyrics by Bach — addresses the universal truths of pain with such lines as “Everybody bleeds / Everybody burns / Everybody drowns…”

“I have been putting out records since the year 1989,” Sebastian says. “Thank YOU for 35 years of Bach N’ Roll…all leading up to Child Within The Man. If you like the records I have put out in the past, I can GUARANTEE that you will enjoy the new album. THIS is the kind of Rock N’ Roll that keeps you young ! Can’t wait for you all to crank up Child Within The Man — a magical elixir to the Fountain of Youth! Gone Wild! Forever! It’s all one big song! TURN IT UP!”

The album artwork holds special meaning since it was designed by Bach‘s father, noted visual artist David Bierk. “This album artwork was started in 1978 and finished in 2024,” Sebastian quips.

Bach adds “RPM Records has provided me with the ultimate rock ‘n’ roll fantasy dream come true…to make my ultimate rock ‘n’ roll record! With the team of players and production on this album, I can honestly say we have made the best record that we could possibly make. The packaging is of the highest standard in every way. The vinyl, CD, & cassette formats all have been made to exact specifications! The 45 RPM double gatefold sleeve vinyl editions come in three eco-formats which are the highest standard of vinyl sound. Plus multicoloured variations including a Glow In The Dark special for all you rock collectors out there.”

Child Within The Man track listing is as follows:

1.  Everybody Bleeds
2.  Freedom (featuring John 5)
3.  (Hold On) To The Dream
4.  What Do I Got To Lose?
5.  Hard Darkness
6.  Future Of Youth (featuring Orianthi)
7.  Vendetta
8.  F.U. (featuring Steve Stevens)
9.  Crucify Me
10. About To Break
11. To Live Again

The album’s first single, What Do I Got To Lose?, continues to build momentum at rock radio. It was co-written by SebastianKennedy and Baskette, the latter of whom also served as the track’s producer.

In advance of the album’s release, Bach will hit the road in 2024 for an international tour with dates in Latin and North America. The What Do I Got To Lose? tour is a mix of solo gigs and festival appearances that kicks off with an international run of performances in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, and Chile before North American shows in the U.S. and Mexico. The stateside tour gets underway May 10th in Jefferson, Louisiana before wrapping June 29th in San Diego, California. Please click here, to see all of Bach’s current tour dates.

Bach performed What Do I Got To Lose? live for the first time during his February 24th concert at Palace Theatre in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Bach released the official music video for What Do I Got To Lose? in December. The clip was directed by Jim Louvau and Tony Aguilera. For the video, which shows Bach cruising through the desert in a convertible and performing with a full band, Sebastian was joined by his former Skid Row bandmate, drummer Rob Affuso. The clip also features an appearance by actor and comedian Craig Gass and Sebastian‘s wife Suzanne, who plays a scantily clad car wash attendant.

“To me, What Do I Got To Lose? is the perfect sentiment for me right now,” Sebastian said about the track. “It’s an anthem for coming back and crushing it. It’s time to lay down the law and put the hammer down old school-style.”

BUCK DHARMA ON WHETHER HE THINKS THE BAND GHOST SOUNDS LIKE BLUE ÖYSTER CULT, “I WOULDN’T SAY THEY’RE REALLY COPYING US”

Greg Prato for Ultimate Guitar spoke with Blue Öyster Cult‘s Buck Dharma, the interview appears in its entirety below.

Ultimate Guitar: With many veteran rock bands calling it a career as of late, how much longer do you see BÖC going for?

Buck Dharma: I think we’re throttling back from the years of heavy touring. Eric [Bloom] and I are getting on in years, and we just want to do it at a more comfortable pace. We’re still booking shows in ’24. I haven’t thought about ’25 yet. But it could go on as long as we can do it. I can still play and sing, I still enjoy it. I don’t much like the grind of tour traveling. But other than that, it’s great to have a job that I can still do, and have been doing it for 50 years.

Ultimate Guitar: Touring plans? Future projects?

Buck Dharma: We are still adding shows for ’24, but we probably will not do more than 25-30 shows this year. As far as the band goes, we’ll see what happens next year. At this point, it’s very much what comes out of the ether a little bit, rather than having a demanding schedule. I’ve got a song that is going to come out this year streaming, The End of Every Song. I’m working on a video now. It’s a one-off, the first Buck Dharma song since my solo album in 1981. So, it’s a long time coming.

Ultimate Guitar: I’ve read about comparisons between BÖC and the band Ghost. Are you familiar with them, and what are your thoughts about their music?

Buck Dharma: To the degree that there is a similarity, I think they’re welcomed to it. I think Ghost is certainly paving their own way as far as how they’ve gone down their road. I wouldn’t say they’re really copying us. To the degree that there are some similarities, that’s fine.

As previously reported, Blue Öyster Cult released a new single today (March 12th) called Don’t Come Running To Me. To listen to the song, and to read more details about the band’s forthcoming release, Ghost Stories, please go here.

BLUE ÖYSTER CULT SHARE NEW SINGLE, “DON’T COME RUNNING TO ME,” “GHOST STORIES” OUT APRIL 12TH

Today (March 12th), legendary rockers Blue Öyster Cult share the second single from their upcoming release, Ghost Stories, out April 12th on Frontiers Music Srl. The track, entitled Don’t Come Running To Me, is accompanied by a new music video.

After the resounding success of their 50th Anniversary celebration, Ghost Stories sees the band eagerly gearing up for an exciting new chapter in their storied career. This highly anticipated album marks a fitting finale to the recording legacy of one of rock’s most iconic fixtures from the past 50 years.

In partnership with Frontiers Music Srl, Ghost Stories will captivate fans with a collection of reimagined and completed songs that span from 1978-2016. These musical treasures, long considered the “lost gems” by  Blue Öyster Cult enthusiasts, were originally recorded between 1978 and 1983, except for one track from 2016, If I Fell. Also included is the only known recorded performance of their concert classic Kick Out the Jams (MC5 cover). Some of the material is from workshopping albums, some from performance rehearsals, and all were recorded once in the hopes that someday they’d see the light of day.

Check out the music video for, Don’t Come Running To Me, below, and pre-order Ghost Stories, here.

Ghost Stories track list:

1) Late Night Street Fight

2) Cherry

3) So Supernatural

4) We Gotta Get Out of This Place

5) Soul Jive

6) Gun

7) Shot in the Dark

8) The Only Thing

9) Kick Out the Jams

10) Money Machine

11) Don’t Come Running To Me

12) If I Fell

13) Roadhouse Blues (Bonus Track Japan)

Work in the studio for the album was completed by Richie Castellano along with remaining original members Eric Bloom and Donald “Buck Dharma” Roeser and both Albert Bouchard and Rick Downey appear on drums with additional overdubs recorded by Joe Bouchard. All these original lineuep members appearing on Ghost Stories, create a musical journey that traverses decades and promises easter eggs for days.

George Geranios, the band’s original audio engineer and an integral part of the band’s golden years produced the tracks along with BÖC and all were originally recorded on reel-to-reel analog tape. He transferred them to digital audio which is when modern AI and magical musical talents meet and the collection of vintage multi-track recordings was de-mixed, re-mixed, and produced by Steve Schenck and Richie Castellano to become Ghost Stories. The two explain the album’s amazing process here.

As Blue Öyster Cult embraces its “classic rock” phenomenon status, the anticipation for this album is reaching a crescendo. Fans are eager to experience the culmination of the band’s artistic vision and witness the completion of songs that have become part of their folklore. The band will also add some of the songs in their up-and-coming 2024 shows.

With a legacy spanning over five decades, Blue Öyster Cult continues to be a formidable force in the classic rock scene. The exciting partnership with Frontiers Music Srl and the visionary leadership of Serafino Perugino add an extra layer of anticipation to the release of Ghost Stories. As the band bids farewell to their recording career, they do so with a flourish, offering fans a musical odyssey that is sure to leave a lasting imprint on rock history. Truly, a remarkable journey.
