OFFICIAL DOCUMENTARY “SUPER DUPER ALICE COOPER” TO PREMIERE AT THE TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL

AliceCoopertophat Eagle Rock Entertainment, in association with Banger Films, are proud to announce the world premiere of Super Duper Alice Cooper at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival (TFF), presented by AT&T, where it will screen as part of their Spotlight section. Taking us through his life and career, Alice presents his story in the first ever “doc opera” film – a dizzying blend of documentary archive footage, animation, and rock opera.

Super Duper Alice Cooper is the twisted tale of a teenage Dr. Jekyll whose rock n’ roll Mr. Hyde almost kills him. It is the story of Vincent Furnier, a preacher’s son who struck fear into the hearts of parents as Alice Cooper, the ultimate rock star of the bizarre. From the advent of Alice as front man for a group of Phoenix freaks in the 60’s to the hazy decadence of celebrity in the 70s to his triumphant comeback as 80s glam metal godfather, we will watch as Alice and Vincent battle for each other’s’ souls. Alice’s story is told not only by the man himself, but through exclusive interviews with members of the original Alice Cooper band, Elton John, Iggy Pop, John Lydon, and Dee Snider.

Super Duper Alice Cooper is the creation of Scot McFadyen and Sam Dunn at Banger Films, producers of Iron Maiden: Flight 666 (2009 SXSW Audience Choice Winner) and Rush: Beyond The Lighted Stage (2010 Grammy-nominated and Tribeca Audience Choice Winner), and much-lauded filmmaker Reginald Harkema, winner of the TIFF Special Jury Prize for his film Monkey Warfare.

The 13th edition of the Tribeca Film Festival will take place from April 16th to April 27th at locations around New York City.

Alice Cooper needs no introduction. Still touring the world, with over 100 concerts scheduled in 2014, and hosting his internationally syndicated Nights With Alice Cooper radio show five nights a week for over a decade, Alice shows no sign of slowing down.

Gotta love Alice, he’s seen it all, done it all and even made fans out of most interesting celebrities! People say “God Bless Ozzy!” how about more “God Bless Alice!” Love to see this on the big screen, if not hope to see it on Blu-Ray! The trailer was awesome, hope all the Alice years gets covered here, my favorite era is when he returned in the mid 80s with Kane Roberts and Kip Winger to take on the MTV Generation of the 80s (back when MTV was cool playing music videos and NO reality shows)!

    Alice Cooper is a band.
    Alice Cooper – vocals, harmonica
    Glen Buxton – lead guitar
Michael Bruce – rhythm guitar, keyboards, backing vocals
Dennis Dunaway – bass guitar, backing vocals
Neal Smith – drums, backing vocals

EVERY member was just as important to Alice Cooper as Alice.
Alice wrote some lyrics, and the odd melody here and there and contributed, along with the rest of the band, to the performance and creating the character of “Alice Cooper”.

This DVD doesn’t even mention Michael Bruce once!
He wrote (all by himself) and co-wrote more songs than Alice.
At least they mention Dennis’s contributions a bit more in the film.
Glen Buxton’s death is talked about less than Alice’s hobby of playing golf? WTF?
Seems like they only side of the break up they wanted to tell was Shep’s, Alice’s and Bob Ezrin.
Alice Cooper, should be thought of the same as Led Zeppelin & Black Sabbath.
I used to have a huge amount of respect for these film makers, but those omissions are simply unforgivable.

Michael Bruce, Glen Buxton, Dennis Dunaway & Neal Smith should be as known as Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler, Bill Ward, John Paul Jones, Jimmy Page and John Bonham.
    They are not.
Then again Robert Plant and Ozzy Osbourne didn’t start releasing albums as Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath without any of the other members, pretending like nothing had changed.

I’ve heard Eddie give his opinion about guys wearing Ace and Peter’s make up.
Forgive me if I’m wrong, but I haven’t heard an opinion about how slighted the members of Alice Cooper have been?
If they were Gene Simmons, they would have sued for trademark infringement and stopped “Welcome to My Nightmare” from coming out, but they all thought they were going to get back together after that.
If you don’t think the members of Alice Cooper have been unfairly overlooked, look at the posts above me…..Kane Roberts and Kip Winger…..really!?!?
At least the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame got it right, inducting all of the members of Alice Cooper.
Imagine that, the Rock N’ Roll Hall of Fame got it right, more so than just about every media publication in the last 40 years, I guess the shoe is on the other foot now.

I have heard very mixed reviews on this film and plan to watch it soon. You make some valid points. But Alice in any form has not been all that popular for decades in a big way. In the US he is a theater act and opening for Motley. A legend for sure, but like Cheap Trick and others far from as revered as he/they should be.
