JUDAS PRIEST’S “BATTLE CRY” LIVE CD/DVD/BLU-RAY TO BE RELEASED ON MARCH 25TH

judaspriest640

Judas Priest’s tour in support of their 17th studio album overall, Redeemer of Souls, was one of the most extensive of the group’s entire career – consisting of 130 shows in 33 countries, and offering a setlist that touched upon selections from nearly all of their classic albums. And now, fans can relive the live Priest experience once more, with the release of the new CD/DVD/Blu-ray, Battle Cry, on March 25th, 2016, through Epic Records.

Recorded live on August 1st, 2015 at Germany’s Wacken Festival in front of an audience of 85,000, Battle Cry is available on a 15-track CD, with the entire show on Blu-ray and DVD (running over 94 minutes), as well as digital audio and video formats. The DVD and Blu-ray also contains 3 bonus tracks shot in Poland on December 10th, 2015 at The Ergo Arena, Gdansk, Poland.

What makes the show’s track listing so appealing is it balances new classics (Dragonaut, Halls of Valhalla, Redeemer of Souls) along with headbanging classics (Metal Gods, Electric Eye, You’ve Got Another Thing Comin’), as well as key album tracks from yesteryear (Devil’s Child, Beyond the Realms of Death, Jawbreaker).

To do a tour that big at the ages Rob, Glenn and Ian are at, is amazing! Setlist-wise, when I saw them last summer, of course there were songs I wish they had played. But in order for Priest to do a set that would please everyone, they’d have to play for several hours. Even young bands wouldn’t be able to that.

Personally, I’d love to see a Priest show that went heavy on 70s Priest.

    Sinner
    Exciter
    Beyond the Realms of Death
    Stained Class
    Tyrant
Better By You, Better Than Me
Call To the Priest / Let Us Prey
    Invader

As much as I love the early 80s stuff, the late 70s was my favorite Priest era.

Savage is a good one, too. 🙂

You’re right, I always forget about that one.

I’m SOOOOOOOOOOOO freakin’ happy about this. Yes, the setlist is INCOMPLETE. But, it’s likely the last live performance disc we’re going to get from them and I’m so grateful for that. Also, glad this is in BluRay. I still don’t understand how Epitaph wasn’t on BR… :/

Hmm, haven’t watched it in a while but I’m almost positive my copy of Epitaph is on Blu-Ray. I could be wrong but I think ‘Rising in the East’ from 2005 wasn’t even shot in widescreen format. That bothers me. Love the show though (last “official” live vid with KK?), but circa 2005 should have at least been widescreen even if it’s just regular DVD.

The Memphis ’82 show is by far my favorite concert vid, I have the original vhs and the Live Vengeance dvd, but yeah the 70’s era is very special to me as well.

I’d love to see them do these songs live:

TYRANT, SINNER, THE RIPPER, GENOCIDE, ROCK FOREVER, RUNNING WILD
WHITE HEAT RED HOT, SAINTS IN HELL, STAINED CLASS, SAVAGE

Slick list. I loved the version of Diamonds and Rust on the Memphis vid. I’d be up for another version of that tune as well.
