7/30/08: Just days away now from the huge 25th Anniversary party 8/4 at the Hard Rock! We are just about at full capacity but I will do my best to give away a few tickets this Friday on the live show on Q104.3 as final giveaways. The response and demand has been crazy to say the least. If you are coming the doors will open at 7PM and the show begins at 8PM. Do not be late! Priest is the only band playing and it will not be a full set (go to PNC or Jones Beach to see that). There will be so many metal and rock VIPs coming as well. Feel free to come by and check out the red carpet entry even if you can't get in. Let's make Times Square a true metal celebration this Monday!! Speaking of metal celebrations, all four members of Heaven & Hell are in studio with me this Friday night on Q104. They will also be special guests at the party on Monday and are doing an in store in NJ Saturday at Vintage Vinyl.
The merger between XM and Sirius is now official. Many people asking me what it all means to them and for me. From what I can see it looks as if for the immediate future it means nothing. If you have XM you will still get your shows and channels as usual, same if you have Sirius. Seems like it will be a long time before there is one radio that gets both services due to technology issues. I'll let you know as I learn more but to get my show you must continue to have an XM radio and an XM subscription, so it is business as usual for now. Many Sirius subscribers have asked if this means they will now get my show on their radios and for no the answer is no. If/when that changes I'll let you know.
I'm on the cover of the new issue of the EC Rocker (inside the Aquarian) on stands today. Thanks to Cathy Campagna for a nice story on my 25 years in the business.
Lot's of email about my announced return to VH1 Classic. My new show, "That Metal Show" will debut in Sept or October. More news and info to come. I am thrilled to once again be a part of this channel where I spent five amazing years!
Spoke to Brian Johnson of AC/DC again on the phone Monday. Brian told me he just saw the tour routing for the new AC/DC tour and at age 60 was very worried! He was headed to the gym to try and get ready!! Brian is excited for everyone to hear the new CD and hit the road. He will be on with me soon to talk AC/DC. Great guy, funny guy for sure! He is headed to the UK to shoot a video for the new album and said he could not understand why anyone would still want to see a bunch of "old geezers" like them jump around. I assured him there will be MANY that do!
