7/25/08: Just hung up the phone with Brian Johnson of AC/DC. Brian and I have become friends over recent years ever since I interviewed the band for VH1 Classic when they entered the Rock Hall. Brian has done my radio shows since several times in person and on the phone. If you heard those interviews you know the guy is HYSTERICAL, and that goes for him in private conversation as well! I invited Brian to my Anniversary bash and he just called me to say congrats and that he was bummed he can't make it. He explained he is headed to London that week to join up with AC/DC and shoot a video for the first single from the long awaited new CD. We joked around on a bunch of things but the nuts and bolts of the talk from the music side is that he is really pleased with the new album. Now Brian is super honest about his band and the music industry in general, so when he says how he feels you know its true, and he really feels this is a great AC/DC album. He's looking forward to people hearing it and hitting the road. He was not certain about the future plan beyond that. Just happy to get to work. He also mentioned the film he did music for and had a hand producing "Totally Baked" is out now on DVD and he's mostly been busy racing cars and hanging at his home in FL. Brian may call in Monday to the XM show is he can. Keep an eye on this space if that is confirmed. Now that there is a new album coming politics will no doubt come into play, but Brian has always been great to me and my shows and will come on at some point he assured me. Maybe even this Monday! Great guy, sorry he can't make the party but I appreciate a legend like that taking the time to call me.
Speaking of legends; Ronnie James Dio, Geezer Butler, Vinnie Appice and Tony Iommi in the studio with me live Friday 8/1 on Q104!
