That was a great interview. I listened to it on Eddie’s show. Rock ‘n Roll is a lot like sports. The quarterback in football tends to get way too much credit at times. People fail to realize how important it is to have great receivers (who make the quarterback look good) and great offensive lines.

Bob Daisley is one of the guys that made the team much better. Ozzy’s solo work is all over the place. I can’t listen to a lot of it, but the songs with Daisley’s stamp are much better than the later stuff.

Deep Purple is a great band, but take away Ritchie Blackmore and something is missing. Ted Nugent was never as good without Derek St. Holmes. Michael Anthony was a huge part of Van Halen’s sound. The Who without Keith Moon just wasn’t the same. Heart without Roger Fisher (who by the way was considered as a replacement for Ace Frehley according to Fisher, who wasn’t interested) was never the same either. I’m sure there are more examples, but it isn’t a coincidence that many of Daisley’s projects were successful. If Aerosmith lost Brad Whitford – it’d be a big difference too.

Oh yeah, and PLEASE find a way to get this book distributed in the USA. $50 is too much in this economy for a book. I’d pay $25, but $50 is over the top, unless Bob wants to throw in a DVD of some rare Randy Rhoads or other footage!
