SINGER PHIL LEWIS LEAVES L.A. GUNS

Singer Phil Lewis has posted the following message on L.A. Guns’ Facebook page:

“Dear friends and fans. With a heavy heart I have to inform you that as of Jan 1, 2017 I will no longer be a member of this line up. I feel I have gone as far as I can in this band, and unless I get out and focus on myself, and something new that has a future, I’m going to stagnate. For the last five years I’ve been enthusiastic to record a new record, Hollywood Forever really recharged my batteries and made me feel very proud to be in this band, but it feels like so long ago now. At this stage I want to walk away with at least a little dignity.

I want to thank you all for your solid support throughout the last 15 years. We’ve had the pleasure and honor of playing so many wonderful countries, and I’ve always made a point of getting out and meeting some of the best, most loyal fans in the business. Your smiling faces will always be a huge part of my adventure, and I want to say Thank You, Thank You, Thank You from the bottom of my heart. What’s the point of making records or playing shows if you don’t have fans for feedback, and I feel blessed to have so many cool people who treasure the music as much as I do as a part of our fan base.

I will continue writing, recording, and performing in the future. I have some solid plans, and I’m also open to where fate will take me on my musical adventure, and I sincerely hope if I’m anywhere near you, you’ll come out and say hi and hear what I’m doing. I love rock and roll, it’s been my religion and salvation for many decades, and I feel the fire burning in my soul to do more. I have no plans on slowing down or retiring anytime soon, so please don’t be sad.

Wish me luck and please stay in touch. Goodbye.

Philip Lewis”

In related news, Frontiers Music/SRL announced that former L.A Guns bandmates, Phil Lewis and Tracii Guns, had been signed to the label and would be releasing a brand new album in the summer of 2017. Since that initial announcement, a little over two months ago, no further details have been released about the project.

KISS GUITARIST ACE FREHLEY ON THE POSSIBILITY OF A KISS REUNION, “I’M NOT RULING IT OUT”

Original KISS guitarist, Ace Frehley, was a recent guest on Eddie’s Sirius/XM show, Trunk Nation. Highlights from the interview appear below via Blabbermouth.net.

Discussing how his relationship with his former KISS bandmates was exaggerated by the press, for the worse:

“The press colors the fact that we don’t get along, in reality we do. You know, we have disagreements and things are said sometimes, taken out of context. But, I’ve always been friends with those guys and they’ve been friends with me. We may not have agreed about certain things over the years and maybe there were times we didn’t talk. I mean, we created something amazing that withstood the test of time.”

Discussing working with Paul Stanley on the song, Fire And Water, from Frehley’s covers album, Origins, Vol 1:

“Working with Paul again, it was almost as if I had never left the band. I mean, the chemistry was still there. I wasn’t sure he was gonna do the video. When he agreed to sing on Fire And Water, that was a great accomplishment. The record company said, ‘You think Paul will do the video?’ And I said, ‘I don’t know. I’ll give him a call.’ And he was very receptive from day one, and I was really amazed and thought it came out fantastic…Me and Paul have been through a lot over the years. But whenever we hook up, it’s like we’ve never been apart. He was a consummate professional. And I said to him after we had done, like, fifteen takes, I said, ‘I’m gonna shoot some smoking-guitar stuff.’ And I go, ‘You don’t have to hang around, Paul. You can split. I really appreciate all the time you’ve invested in doing the video.’ And he said, ‘No, I’ll wait around in case you need me.’ And it was just terrific. He was a real trooper that day.”

Talking about the possibility of a KISS reunion:

“I haven’t been contacted. I’m not ruling it out. It’s a possibility, I guess. But the ball’s in Paul and Gene’s [Simmons] court. If that’s something that they would like to do to end off the career of KISS, I think it could be… if it was handled correctly, it could be great…And if it happens, it’d be great, and if it doesn’t, I’ll be fine and they’ll be fine.”

What about all the rumors floating around regarding a reunion?:

“There’s been rumors for years, and the rumors are probably… There’s a lot more rumors going around now than there were a few years ago. But, you know, rumors are rumors.”

Frehley also confirmed that he has begun working on music for his next collection of original material, tentatively due in 2017.

M3 ROCK FESTIVAL 2017 LINE UP ANNOUNCED, SCHEDULED FOR APRIL AND HOSTED BY EDDIE TRUNK

M3 Rock Festival, the definitive, can’t-miss annual gathering of heavy metal bands and those that love them, will turn back clock to the 1980s once more at Columbia, Maryland’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on Friday, April 28th and Saturday, April 29th. For the first time ever, M3 will expand to a third day to host the new M3 Southern Rock Classic.

Known for its idolized metal bands and colorful, devout audience, the first two days of M3 will once again feature full sets of glam rock and heavy metal hits. The festival will take place on two separate stages, each simulcasting the other, giving fans the option to stay in one seat and watch all the bands as they appear on both stages, or move from stage to stage without missing a note.

M3 is internationally renowned, and has attracted fans from six continents, 10 countries and 40 states. Now in its ninth year, I.M.P. Presents M3 Rock Festival starts with The Official M3 Kix-Off Party, which will get things started Friday, April 28th at 3:30pm. Acts playing Friday night are KIX, Loverboy, Winger, Faster Pussycat, Dangerous Toys, Baton Rouge, and Station, with a special VIP acoustic set by Lita Ford. The full-blown 2017 M3 Rock Festival begins Saturday, April 29th at 10:30am and will include RATT featuring the original members Pearcy, Demartini and Croucier, Cinderella’s Tom Keifer, Dokken, Warrant, Jack Russell’s Great White, Vixen, Loudness, Danger Danger, Autograph, Bang Tango, Vain, and Mitch Malloy. The festival with hosted by our very own Eddie Trunk.

For the first time, I.M.P. is adding a third day by also presenting the M3 Southern Rock Classic. The all-day extravaganza will feature Lynyrd Skynrd, Charlie Daniels Band, Outlaws, Black Stone Cherry, Molly Hatchet, Blackfoot, Great Train Robbery, and One Nite Stand.

M3 has become more than a festival. It’s a happening, a congregation of those who fell in love with hair metal in the ‘80s and teenagers getting in on it for the first time. Each year VIP and Pavilion seats sell out quickly. Two-day, three-day and VIP packages will go on sale Friday, December 7th at 10am EST through ticketfly.com. Tickets can also be purchased at the Merriweather Post Pavilion and 9:30 Club box offices. If available, single-day tickets will go on sale in the coming weeks. GUITARIST DJ ASHBA ON WHY HE LEFT GUNS N’ ROSES, “I NEEDED TO GET BACK TO MY ROOTS”

Former Guns N’ Roses, and SIXX:AM guitarist, DJ Ashba, was a guest on Eddie’s December 1st broadcast of his Sirius/XM show, Trunk Nation. Ashba discussed the reasons why he decided to leave GN’R, highlights from the interview appear below via Blabbermouth.net.

On why he departed from Guns N’ Roses:

“Well, there [were] multiple reasons [why I left GN’R] — a couple that I won’t go into — but the biggest reason was I needed to get back to my roots, back to what I really truly believed in, and that was playing songs I helped write with [SIXX:A.M. bandmates] James [Michael] and Nikki [Sixx]. We [SIXX:A.M.] have five albums out [and] we have a ten-year career together. So we did a tour, Modern Vintage tour, where it was, like, nineteen shows, and that tour really changed my life and put my career back into perspective — you know, being out on the stage and connecting with the fanbase.”

Speaking about being asked to join Guns’ Not In This Lifetime tour:

“Axl called me and he really wanted me a part of the reunion, and I turned it down. I felt if Slash is coming back, that’s great — that’s what the fans want, and I can go off and do what I really wanna do now… And we left [off on good terms]; everything is good. And I couldn’t be happier for the fans out there. I’m a fan. Half of the band reunited, which excites me, but at the same time, it’s the best of both worlds — I get to do what I really love to do, and that’s play in SIXX:A.M.”

DJ Ashba added that SIXX: AM has written a double album — Prayers For The Blessed and Prayers For The Damned. The band is currently on the road, see the tour dates below.

December:

2 Giant Center Hershey, PA
3 Big Sandy Superstore Arena Huntington, WV
5 Bon Secours Wellness Arena Greenville, SC
6 North Charleston Coliseum North Charleston, SC
8 Amway Center Orlando, FL
9 Amalie Arena Tampa, FL
10 Infinite Energy Center Duluth, GA
