BASSIST MICHAEL ANTHONY IS “FLATTERED” THAT DAVID LEE ROTH WANTS HIM BACK IN VAN HALEN

michaela Former Van Halen and current Chickenfoot bassist Michael Anthony called into to Eddie’s Sirius/XM show, Eddie Trunk Live, on Monday, April 9th, to discuss the passing of famed producer Andy Johns. In addition to discussing Johns, and other topics, Eddie asked Anthony a question about his former bandmate David Lee Roth. His response to the question appears below.

When raising the point that David Lee Roth stated in recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine that he would like Anthony back in the band and missed his vocals, the bassist said: “It was flattering to hear Dave talk like that. He never used to talk like that when we were all playing together. [laughs] But hey… I really don’t know what to say to that. It was flattering that he said that. And, obviously, I’m the kind of guy that… water under the bridge. I don’t hold any kind of grudges for anything, and you never know what will happen at anytime…. At this point in your life and career and whatever, the career aside, it’s more about the friendship and just people. And if the music side of it, if that happens, if that comes about, all the better, but that’s not what it’s really about at this point.”

Good for Dave. It’s absolute bullshit what they did to Mikey. Trying to edit his stuff out of old albums, making him do his last tour with them essentially as a “hired gun”. Eddie is a supreme douche nozzle. Guy is the reason I’ve played guiitar for over 35 years and was my inspiration growing up, but man what an asshole he turned into over the years. Guess Dave (in and of himself a douche) realized without Mikey to basically carry him vocally it just wasn’t working last time around. I too saw them on Diver Down and the 1984 tours, but refused to go this time around for what they did to Mr. Anthony,,,,,

Alcohol can turn anyone in to a douche.

DLR gave Anthony much deserved Kudos. Each Van Halen member had something unique to offer and help put the band over the top.

My dream would be to see all past and present Van Halen members just jump on stage and rock. Throw the gloves away and do something for the fans. Maybe as the last hoorah. Like I said, just a dream.

I refuse any VH without Sammy or Mike. The band has no life without these 2. Did not buy VHIII and will not ever buy the new ones. I think Michael A. should be the 4th host of TMS. See if you can make this happen for the future.

Interesting call for Michael Anthony for a TMS slot, and I support it, but I’d campaign first for Dee Snider. He brings a little more humor, aggression, and intensity.

The Better Man has always been Mike, I lost my respect for Eddie Van Halen by reading the bio and the things he said and did to Mike, same for David Lee one douche bag deserves another. It’s good to know that Mike has a great frame of mind and character, and if what he’s got to bring back into Van Halen would be a definite bonus.
