ONCE AGAIN, SINGER ONI LOGAN DEPARTS LYNCH MOB

Singer Oni Logan has posted the following message on his Facebook page:

“As a new year shines a light so do new beginnings..
Some that make the heart flutter and some that just have to happen.
I’ve been the original vocalist for Lynch Mob on and off for many years,
I’ve played a lot of great shows and traveled a lot of miles with this band,
I’m very proud to have been a part of the recordings and the brotherhood.
I’d like to say thanks to the fans who have continued to come to our shows over the years and for all your interest in what we had to say in our new recordings.
Very excited for 2018! I’ll be putting together a new recording and touring project.
Writing and recording has always been the most satisfying aspect in being a musician,
I’ll be looking forward to writing with other artist and bands,
2018 is wide open and I’m feeling a sense of new beginnings coming on…
Best to all in 2018🤘😎✌️
Oni”

Logan joined Lynch Mob in 1990, but exited the group after the release of its first album, only to rejoin in 2008.

Lynch Mob’s latest release, The Brotherhood, was released last September through Rat Pak Records.

JOE SATRIANI – JOINS TOGETHER WITH G3 TOUR MATES – AND FRIENDS–CARLOS SANTANA, NEAL SCHON & MORE TO RAISE MONEY FOR NORTH BAY FIRE RELIEF IN SONOMA COUNTY

World-renowned guitarist, and Bay-Area resident, Joe Satriani announces a fundraising auction, set to launch this Sunday, January 14th, at the Fox Theater in Oakland, CA to benefit the North Bay Fire Relief in Sonoma County. The online auction will be live for one week, with bidding ending on January 21st, bid here.

The auction will feature autographed collectible guitars from Joe as well as his G3 Tour-mates (John Petrucci & Phil Collen), in addition to guitars signed and donated by fellow Bay Area Residents: Carlos Santana and Neal Schon. Other items up for auction include a Huey Lewis signed harmonica and a Bill Gibson signed drumhead, along with signed posters and memorabilia from past G3 tours. Net proceeds will go to North Bay Fire Relief, including UndocuFund, directly assisting the affected undocumented residents of Sonoma County. The auction is being curated and administered by Bananas at Large.

Satriani has lived in the Bay Area for over 30 years and considers it home. His longtime manager, Mick Brigden, was directly affected by the fire as his entire neighborhood was destroyed, although thankfully, his house was spared. Raising funds to support those affected in their own backyard is important to the multi-Grammy nominated guitarist. Satriani says, “This special auction for North Bay Fire Relief in Sonoma County is close to my heart. So many of my friends and coworkers are still in need after the devastating wildfires. Please join me and my musical buddies in raising some funds to provide some love and care. Thank you!”

The guitarist’s 16th solo album, What Happens Next, was released today (January 12th) on Sony/Legacy Recordings. Listen to, Thunder High On The Mountain, from the album, here. Longtime touring entity, G3, opened last night in Seattle featuring Dream Theater’s John Petrucci and Def Leppard lead guitarist, Phil Collen, joining him. The G3 tour will conclude on February 25th in Milwaukee, WI.

Joe’s touring band: Mike Keneally (guitar and keyboards), Bryan Beller (bass), Joe Travers (drums).

MOTORHEAD GUITARIST “FAST” EDDIE CLARKE PASSES AWAY AT AGE 67

Motörhead guitarist “Fast” Eddie Clarke died Wednesday at 67.

He was the last surviving founding member of the legendary metal outfit, best known for their 1980 hit Ace of Spades.

“We are devastated to pass on the news we only just heard ourselves earlier tonight … Edward Allan Clarke – or as we all know and love him Fast Eddie Clarke – passed away peacefully yesterday,” the official Motörhead Facebook page announced early Thursday. “Ted Carroll (who formed Chiswick Records) made the sad announcement via his FB page, having heard from Doug Smith that Fast Eddie passed peacefully in hospital where he was being treated for pneumonia.”

Former Motörhead drummer Mikkey Dee, now a member of the Scorpions, said in a statement on Motörhead’s page, “Oh my f—king God, this is terrible news, the last of the three amigos. I saw Eddie not too long ago and he was in great shape, so this is a complete shock. Me and Eddie always hit it off great. I was looking forward to seeing him in the UK this summer when we around with the Scorps.”

Dee added of fellow founding Motörhead members Ian “Lemmy” Kilmeister, who died of cancer in December 2015, and Phil “Philthy Animal” Taylor who died that November, “Now Lem and Philthy can jam with Eddie again, and if you listen carefully I’m sure you’ll hear them, so watch out! Fast Eddie … keep roaring, rockin’ and rollin’ up there as goddammit man, your Motörfamily would expect nothing less!”

In addition to his work with Motörhead, Clarke formed the band, Fastway, with UFO bassist, Pete Way, in the 80’s. The band’s debut, self titled, album, spawned the hit, Say What You Will.

TORA TORA SIGN WITH FRONTIERS MUSIC, NEW ALBUM TO BE RELEASED IN 2019

Frontiers Music Srl has announced the signing of Memphis’s Tora Tora. The band will commence recording a new studio album in 2018 for a tentative release in early 2019.

Tora Tora’s mixture of hard rock with its hometown’s legendary blues style put the group in a class of its own and the label was thrilled to find the band was open to creating new music.

Says vocalist Anthony Corder, “Tora Tora is proud to announce we have signed with Frontiers. With a rich musical heritage and focus on quality content, we feel their company culture is the perfect fit for our project. We are excited to join some of our favorite artists and friends on their international roster. Thank you to Serafino Perugino, Mario De Riso and Nick Tieder and our entire Frontiers family for this opportunity. We are looking forward to creating some great music and many good memories with all of you!”

Comments guitarist Keith Douglas, “When we first started talking about a new Tora Tora project, the biggest question for us was what it would sound like after so much time had passed since we’d written together. After just one day of collaborating, it was clear we were going to pick up right where we left off so many years ago. We have some really good songs already written as well as a ton of other cool ideas to get sorted out. Having creative freedom is a huge bonus for us. As far as the direction, it’s just going to be whatever comes out. But I can tell you what has come out so far rocks as hard as anything we’ve ever done and lets our Memphis roots shine through. We are very excited to be working on what we feel like is going to be a very special record and just as excited to be working with Frontiers Records. Stay tuned!”

Tora Tora started in 1985 in the garage of then high school students Antony Corder, Keith Douglas, John Patterson and Patrick Francis. They beat out sixty other groups in a local Battle Of The Bands contest and received some free studio time at Ardent Studios. They cut one track before using the prize money they had won to record an entire independent EP called To Rock To Roll. Ardent was so impressed with the recordings that they offered to help shop the demo and gave them even more free recording time. Tora Tora eventually singed with A&M. That debut album made the Billboard Top 100 and hovered on the brink of breaking wide open as songs such as Walking Shoes, Riverside Drive and Phantom Rider became local anthems. They followed up with Wild America, which produced two more singles. A third album, Revolution Day, was recorded but never released due to label restructuring. Due to the onset of the grunge era, Tora Tora, much like many other bands of their genre, called it quits in 1994.

Tora Tora reunited in August 2016 for a benefit concert in Memphis to help bassist Patrick Francis, who was diagnosed with cancer. Footage of the show has since been released on Blu-ray.
