RAPPER MACHINE GUN KELLY TO PLAY TOMMY LEE IN MOTLEY CRUE’S “THE DIRT” MOVIE

Justin Kroll of Variety reports:

Colson Baker, known by his stage name Machine Gun Kelly, has been tapped to play Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee in Netflix’s adaptation of the band’s biography The Dirt.

Jeff Tremaine, who helmed the Jackass movies, is directing the film from a script by Rich Wilkes and Tom Kapinos. Julie Yorn, Erik Olsen, and Allen Kovac are producing, while Chris Nilsson, Steve Kline, and Rick Yorn are exec producing. Members of Motley Crue are co-producing.

Based on the 2001 autobiography The Dirt: Confessions of the World’s Most Notorious Rock Band, the movie follows the group’s rise during the ’80s “hair band” rock scene on the Sunset Strip and pulls no punches as it dives into the band’s highs and lows along the way. Motley Crue played its final concert on New Year’s Eve in 2015 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles…

…This is the closest the film has come to moving toward production after years of jumping from studio to studio. It landed at Paramount Pictures more than a decade ago. Larry Charles was initially attached to direct “The Dirt” for Paramount and MTV Films in 2006. Focus then came on in 2015 while the band was on its final tour. At that point, Tremaine and the current producers were on board…

MICHAEL SCHENKER DISCUSSES KIRK HAMMETT’S APPEARANCE HIS “RESURRECTION” ALBUM

Resurrection, the new album from Michael Schenker’s Michael Schenker Fest project, will be released on March 2nd through Nuclear Blast.

When asked how Metallica guitarist Kirk Hammett came to be involved with the project, Schenker told Poland’s Interia.pl (as transcribed by Blabbermouth.net, “He is a fan. He always wanted to jam with me. He actually did something very nice for me — he put Michael Schenker Group’s] Armed And Ready on [Metallica’s] version of Guitar Hero; they had their own version. Peter Mensch, he used to be the manager of AC/DC, then Def Leppard and then Metallica, he told me that Kirk Hammett, I’m his Santa Claus. And so that’s how it started. So I found out very late in life that he was a fan. And then we met at a guitar magazine, [when we were named two of] the 10 most influential guitarists, we made the cover page for a guitar magazine in America, but we never talked. So he always wanted to jam with me. [Radio personality] Eddie Trunk, from New York, he arranged for Kirk and me to meet and jam. And so we jammed and then we did an interview together. And then, eventually, he even came to a concert and jammed a song with us. So, basically, Kirk was a fan, he became a friend and he plays in the biggest band in the world. And so I said, ‘Kirk, you wanna [guest on Resurrection]?’ And he was more than happy. His management even… ‘Cause he wanted to record in Hawaii in his own recording studio, so [Metallica’s] management paid for the ticket for Michael Voss, the co-producer, to fly over there to record [Kirk’s solo]. Then they sent me a picture of Kirk [in the studio]. He looked like a teenager, 20 years old, with his casual Hawaiian outfit, baseball hat, and he was happy.”

THE DEAD DAISIES SET TO “BURN IT DOWN” IN 2018

Burn It Down, the new album from the Dead Daisies, is a muscular tour-de-force, a tornado of pounding drums, pulverizing bass, screaming guitars and in-your-face raw vocals. Evoking the best of 70s Rock, with moments of Birmingham’s finest, blended with the early works of Boston’s best, Burn It Down will do just that: burn down everything in its path until there is nothing left standing.

Recorded in Nashville, the band finished their 4th studio album in December.

John Corabi about the new record, “I’m extremely excited about our new record Burn It Down. It was a pleasure to once again work with Marti Frederiksen and the band on what I believe is the next great step in The Dead Daisies journey. This is a balls-out old school rock record!!! Enjoy it, and see you all on our massive 2018 world tour. Peace, Crabby”

Doug Aldrich puts it quite simply, yet to the point, “The new Daisies album will melt your face. It is raw and in-your-face with a whole new sound.”

With the band eager to get on the road and in true Daisies’ fashion, the band announced the first of many Burn It Down tour dates slated for 2018 right before Christmas with fans turning out in droves at the on-sale date. Many more dates are to be announced including the band’s highly anticipated return to Japan, North America, Mexico and South America.

With Deen joining the bands line-up to record the new Album, The Dead Daisies are: Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), Marco Mendoza (Whitesnake, Thin Lizzy), Deen Castronovo (Bad English, Journey) and David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink).

One thing is for certain: within a short amount of time, The Dead Daisies have made a massive impression on the rock scene and managed to garner the one thing that every band desires but only so few ever have: HARD CORE FANS! They love the Daisies and the Daisies love them back.

Frontiers Music and Spread Eagle are very proud to announce the planned release of a new studio album in 2019.

The band has started pre-production in the Music Building, New York, NY which is the exact place where our debut album was written and rehearsed. Recording will take place at Studio E in Brooklyn, NY with Grammy Award winning engineer Tom Camuso.

What a fantastic, fun year this has been for Spread Eagle! In August-September we toured UK/EU for the very first time. A HUGE thanks to promoters Ian Glenn Wright at Hull Metal Heaven Festival, Bernd Wilbert at MBM Live, Seven Webster at Hard Rock Hell Festival, Sebastian Alsdorf at Paunchy Cats and our incredible friend Dan DeVita at TKO Artists. The shows were great, the audiences were amazing and the band had a truly incredible experience. Spread plan on more UK/EU touring (along with USA and other territories) as soon as the new record is completed.

We’re inspired and working hard on doing what we do best. Writing kick ass ROCK music that will be played loud and live…to many people. This is what we live for, so stay tuned!
