KERRY KING ANNOUNCES “RESIDUE,” THE NEW SINGLE AND FIRST MUSIC VIDEO FROM HIS UPCOMING DEBUT SOLO ALBUM, “FROM HELL I RISE

With his solo debut album, From Hell I Rise, set for a May 17th release (Reigning Phoenix Music), Kerry King unveils Residue, the project’s brand new single, and first music video. Co-directed by Jim Louvau and his partner Tony Aguilera, who have made videos for Jerry Cantrell, Sebastian Bach, Exodus, and Killer Be Killed, the video was shot at their downtown Phoenix studio in early April, and features King’s new band – Mark Osegueda/vocals, Phil Demmel/guitar, Kyle Sanders/bass, and drummer Paul Bostaph.

According to Louvau, his concept for the video was simple: “A fiery, bitchin’, heavy f*ucking metal performance introducing the world to Kerry King‘s new project and band members. A no bullsh*t, no prisoners showcase of the band members, performing while engulfed in flames and surrounded by burning pentagrams.”

“I come from a big fire pedigree,” said King, “and my music works with fire. I’ve always written horror-type music, so it made sense to incorporate fire into the first video, where you get to see the entire band, which I think is just awesome. I think fire goes hand-in-hand with the devil, and I’m no stranger to talking about the devil.”

Said Louvau, “I knew this would be the first time that the world was going to see the band performing together, so I wanted to create a fast-moving visual assault. Pyrotechnics and Kerry King clearly go hand in hand and seem to fit like a glove, so Tony and I wanted to create something that felt familiar but also something new and exciting. I also knew I could get away with certain visuals like a burning pentagram.”

ANVIL ANNOUNCE NEW STUDIO ALBUM, “ONE AND ONLY,” AND PRESENT FIRST VIDEO SINGLE “FEED YOUR FANTASY”

When it comes to the most influential bands in the history of heavy metal, authorities on the subject regularly vote Anvil among the top positions. The group from Toronto, Canada, with its two masterminds, Steve ‘Lips’ Kudlow and Robb Reiner, and bassist Chris Robertson, not only looks back at an impressive career with countless highlights – as well as a number of well-documented difficulties – but has also had a lasting influence on lots of internationally renowned musicians, from Metallica to Slayer and beyond.

Their forthcoming, 20th album is aptly entitled One And Only, Anvil are and will always be one of a kind and are continuing to shape the contemporary metal scene just as impressively as they did at the beginning of their career. How they achieve this? No sexual topics and no thrash speed songs like they featured on past albums.”

One And Only’ sees the band provide first-rate Anvil entertainment: While Guitarist/vocalist Lips is considered to be one of the most creative and interesting storytellers of the metal genre, Chris Robertson and Robb Reiner keep the up the pace with their usual confidence, providing the perfect rhythm section for Lips. Although they have experienced the tough and frequently merciless side of the music industry on a number of occasions, Anvil never lost their idealism, motivation and energy, which is immediately evident on One And Only.

CAREGORY 7: NEW BAND FEATURING JOHN BUSH, PHIL DEMMEL, MIKE ORLANDO, JACK GIBSON AND JASON BITTNER, JOINS METAL BLADE RECORDS

Metal Blade Records is pleased to welcome Category 7, the new band featuring vocalist John Bush, guitarists Phil Demmel and Mike Orlando, bassist Jack Gibson, and drummer Jason Bittner, to its legendary roster.

With veteran musicians from such legendary acts as Anthrax, Armored Saint, Adrenaline Mob, Machine Head, Overkill, Exodus, and Shadows Fall, it’s hard not to think of Category 7 as a supergroup. The origins of the band began with discussions between Demmel and Orlando of their mutual desire to form a twin lead guitar hard rock unit harkening back to bands of the ’70s such as Thin Lizzy. Bittner was next to join the conversation followed by Gibson. After composing some early music, it was obvious that the only vocalist that would fit the concept would be Bush.

Notes Bush, “Mike Orlando‘s and Phil Demmel‘s awesome riffs made writing lyrics over the music a piece of cake. The rhythm tandem of Bittner and Gibson rounded out the sound and the connection felt like it was put together in the stars. Obviously, everyone being a veteran of the metal scene made it that much easier.”

Based on Demmel‘s and Bush‘s long-term relationships with Metal Blade Records, it seemed to be the perfect home for the band. The label agreed and a union was quickly forged.

Comments Metal Blade Records‘ founder Brian Slagel of the signing, “Happy to welcome Category 7 into the Metal Blade family. Of course, some of them are already in. Seriously love working with this crew and it’s great stuff.”

As crushing and confrontational as an armed rebellion and as fiercely melodic as infectious riffs and aggressive vocals can be, Category 7 is a new breed of hard rock that lives up to the storied histories of its members. Category 7‘s debut will see release this Summer with their first single to be unveiled on May 2nd. Stand by for details!

FIREHOUSE SINGER C.J. SNARE PASSES AT AGE 64

C.J. Snare, the lead singer of the 80s hair metal band FireHouse — behind hits like Don’t Treat Me Bad and Love of a Lifetime — died unexpectedly Friday after suffering cardiac arrest. He was 64, as reported by the New York Post.

The band mourned Snare’s passing as a “sad day for Rock N Roll” in a statement on Facebook Sunday.

“It is with great sorrow we are letting the world know we have lost our brother: CJ Snare, the rock and roll warrior, lead vocalist, and a founding member of FireHouse,” it read. “CJ Snare passed unexpectedly at home Friday night, April 5th. He was a young 64 years old.”

“As you are all aware, CJ was expected to be back on stage with the band this summer after recovering from surgery,” the statement read adding that everyone in the group was “in complete shock with CJ’s untimely passing.”

CJ was arguably one of the best vocal talents of a generation, touring the world with Firehouse nonstop the past 34 years,” the statement added. “Our heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Snare family, Katherine Little, friends, and all our beloved fans all over the world.”

“‘Reach for the Sky’ CJ,” the post concluded referring to their 1992 song of the same name. “You will be forever missed by family, friends, fans and your bandmates. You’re singing with the angels now.”

Several fans of the group also shared their shock over Snare’s sudden passing.

“A living legend. Loved your music, and so glad to have worked with you and met you,” one person commented on the Facebook post. “Your music and voice is my inspiration, my condolences and respect to the family, Rest well my friend. Your voice inspired generations!

“This is so sad. CJ was one of the most kind-hearted beautiful people I ever met. He was like family. A huge loss to the world, wrote a second person.

“No words. This is so terrible and my heart goes out to his loved ones. He was a friend and a true talent,” a third person lamented.

The New York Post has reached out to Snare’s reps for comment.

Snare’s daughter, Heather, later told TMZ that her father had passed away after suffering cardiac arrest after a lengthy cancer battle.

In addition to singing, the frontman — who helped form the group in 1987— also played keyboards on seven of the group’s albums including their debut LP which went double platinum in the United States.

Prior to his death, the singer posted a photo on Instagram announcing that he would be taking a brief hiatus from the band “until I have recovered from abdominal surgery…”

…In what would be his last social media post, Snare once again reiterated that he was feeling stronger and would be back on stage “before you know it.”

Snare is currently survived by his three children.

[Dana’s note: EddieTrunk.com send our condolences, and in honor of Snare, I will embed one of my favorite FireHouse songs, which I was listening to, yesterday.]
