7/9: THE KISS NO ORIGINAL MEMBERS STORY.

Last night we posted a story in the news section that was sent to me via Twitter about Kiss replacing Gene and Paul and continuing on with a band of no original members. We later found out the original story was from 2008. While the haters will just attack and say it was calculated to further some insane anti – Kiss agenda (love how I am so anti Kiss and STILL PLAY ALL THEIR MUSIC, too funny!), I left it up for two reasons. One the amount of differing opinions on this generated in comments was interesting and ALL views were posted, and two this is still the plan and closer than ever to happening! If this is what they were planning 6 years ago it is really just around the corner now! Clearly the way they do it might be altered but this is still happening and the band has discussed it in the press even recently. So nothing has changed except for it is more imminent! I am hearing maybe two years away from launching at this point with the current (Gene and Paul) band having maybe one more run left after the current tour. What was stunning about this is how many saw it as major news they never heard? This has been talked about and discussed for a long time by Gene and Paul. So no mater where you fall on it I decided to leave it up because I found ALL sides of the reaction interesting and posted ALL response to it. Unlike some I respect and appreciate all opinions and they are represented here as well as my radio and TV shows. But to see this as some crazy dated story that is no longer the plan is not the case. Some may want to live in some fantasy land but all our heroes are getting older (so are we!) and how they handle the end of their careers will be interesting. Who really retires, who stuck around too long, who does bands with no original members. All good debate and all welcome here.

There are many groups devoted to performing the works of composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Beethoven. It looks like Gene and Paul want a repertory company they can benefit from.

Well said Eddie. While I am still a big fan of the band, I can’t see this blind loyalty to the band some have to the band while ignoring the truthof what is really going on.They cry loyalty but ignore reality. I’m not crazy about the way they have marketed themselves over the last 10 years or so, but you know what , like you’ve said, it’s their band. I love the live shows, but don’t appreciate them trying to slyly pass off Tommy as Ace or Eric as Peter. Just not right. They are great guys but KISS is a waste or Eric’s talents. Just listen to Carnival of Souls and you’ll see. We don’t live forever. The Beatles didn’t, and neither will KISS. Going to see them and Def Leppard in a couple of weeks. Could be the last time I see KISS. Looking forward to seeing DL though. 2 Songs from High n Dry …it’s a start.

To clarify I meant that Eric Singer kicks butt on Carnival of Souls as opposed to playing Love Gun every night

They aren’t trying to pass off Tommy as Ace or Eric as Peter. Everyone clearly knows who the band members are. It’s just that some of you cannot accept the reality that BOTH Ace and Peter are complete screw-ups and are poison in the dressing room. They are unreliable and unprofessional and always have been. Gene and Paul have done the leg work to keep the band relevant for 40 years and still get criticized. In fact, Paul has done most of it.

If the Yankees trade a catcher or a right fielder are they still not the Yankees? bands change members. The concept of the Kiss show is entertainment at its best. I have seen Kiss tribute bands that did a very realistic Kiss 70’s show and it was fabulous. Kiss continuing without any original members is an excellent idea. Tommy and Eric have been in Kiss a long time and are legitimate members of Kiss.

How would a KISS II show start anyway?? “You wanted the best, but they are too old and decided to retire! So here’s some other guys – KISS II!”

The most ridiculous comments are coming from the “I won’t pay a dime” and “I will boycott this crap” crowd. Guess what Little Skippy’s…this isn’t for you. This angle and concept is for the people who WILL pay for this, the “tourist” if you will, the “wax museum” crowd. It will be simply a Vegas review on tour…and I would imagine it will be seated in Vegas, where you can see “Kiss on Ice” whenever you’re there, hell it may even be hosted by Mr. Stanley. But, getting mad, and proclaiming it’s tarnishing the brand or legacy…give me a break…you might have been a kid when the cereal and trading cards where being sold, but looking back didn’t you smell something beyond “We’re in it for the songs maaaaan”?

It’s like I said on the other page, as long as it stays in Vegas, it might work. Las Vegas is the city of “impersonators” after all. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas, so keep it there! 😉
