3/18: PETER CRISS TAPES TMS TODAY

Off to NYC to tape this weeks new That Metal Show. Peter Criss will be our guest for the hour. Clearly much to cover with Peter and he hasn’t been on with us in a long time since the show was just 30 minutes. Ace Frehley was supposed to join us for this show but is stuck on the W Coast on a deadline for his new album. We will catch up with him at a later date. For the record ALL members of Kiss are invited through their management every season of TMS. We can only talk with and get the opinions of those that accept the invitation. Should be a fun show and you will see it premiere this Saturday 11P ET on VH1 Classic.

Comments

  1. Peter the Great! Yes, indeed. The first drummer I actually knew anything about thanks to buying KISS ALIVE at the age of 12. His drum solo on “100,000 Years” is the first drum solo I heard growing up and it’s still a classic. And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention what a great rock voice too; besides the obvious hits “Beth” and “Hard Luck Woman” Peter sang some of the deeper KISS cuts like “Mainline”, “Strange Ways”, “Getaway” and of course the lions-share (or should I say cats-share) of “Black Diamond”. Can’t wait to see him again on TMS!

  2. Would like to know Peter’s opinion of how Paul has supposedly “conducted” himself for not getting what he wants throughtout this whole drama, not just the fact that he refused to play with Ace & Peter, but his utter lack of any civility or regard for the HOF’s decision, instead only lashing out at the HOF for not getting exactly what HE wants. It’s ok to disgree but to rant on and on and on every other day and never quit….give it up already. Ace & Peter have been the respectful adults in the room, making an initial statement about their disappointment in Paul and Gene’s decision (and rightfully so) not to play with them and moving on. Paul has systematically, on his own, tried to make a mockery of Kiss’ induction and in the process has made it embarrasing for Ace and Peter to even be associated with Kiss – not to mention even go to the induction. My opinion.

    • And it’s spot on.

Gene and Paul have behaved like first class jerks over this while Peter and Ace have sat back and behaved like true gentlemen.

  3. Cool! It will be very interesting to see what he has to say. Too bad ace couldn’t do a skype or something. As long as he is working on his album that is good.

  4. Can’t wait to hear what Peter Criss has to say about what’s going on with KISS and the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame.

  5. The Catman was ALWAYS the secret weapon in KISS. Vocals with soul, drums with groove. Very much looking forward to Peter Criss this week, his perspective should be interesting. I really think that the success of Beth really wrecked Paul. Seems like he chased that song the rest of his career… NEVER matching the popularity of it. Long live the REAL Catman!

  6. So Ace cancels yet another appearance/gig? Sound familiar?

    • Ace didn’t cancel. Eddie has said all along he didn’t know if Ace could make it or not due to his album work on the west coast.

      • Paul Lynde Halloween Special says:

No one knows if Ace will ever come through on any obligation. He’s a flake and an addict. Trunk knows that. He just doesn’t want to address it.

        • 7 years sober means nothing I guess…just keep pounding the company line.. Funny how guys like Slash and Nikki Sixx never get slammed non stop like Ace? They were both way worse and are now sober. But you never hear people just hammering them about what they USED to be?

  7. Michael Benvenga says:

Wouldn’t miss it for the world. I love to watch Eddie “the sycophant” Trunk kiss Peter’s ass. They both can hold hands and commiserate about how horrible Paul and Gene have treated him.

    • And we can talk about how awful I am to Kiss for playing ALL ERAS of their music for 31 years and doing yearly radio specials of ALL lineups of the band… so awful

    • Do you even know what a sycophant is?

As great as Peter is, I don’t think that at this point in his life that he ‘wields a lot of influence’. And who would Eddie be looking to influence that he couldn’t do on his own?

Maybe you should study the meaning of $5 words before throwing them out there.

      • Paul Lynde Halloween Special says:

Quite apparent that you had to look that word up, Cali. You may want to read the other definitions as well as the first one that’s listed. That way you’ll get a better understanding of the meaning of the word.

  8. Eric Heaton says:

Mike I agree….it will b nice to see peter again….obviously I want to hear his thoughts on rrhof thing, but also like to hear how his health is….at this point, im glad hes out of kiss and I hope he comes out with a rockin album in near future….

  9. In my version of a perfect world, the original four somehow get it together enough to come out and perform “Black Diamond” together because to my ear, that song best represented the contributions of each member on one song. But, my perfect world will never happen because I’d also like for Bruce and the Erics to be represented, but that’s because I was an 80s kid.

  10. This taping should be extremely interesting. What a great guy Peter is . Joe in The Cuse

  11. Taskerofpuppets says:

Awesome! Can’t wait to see this episode along with Richarrrrrdddd Chrriiiiissssttttyyyy!.

  12. Singer n thayer simply are no good for kiss ..it kinda reminds me of the 78movie meets phantom of park where the crazed kiss got booted by real kiss. Fans chanting we want kiss. We want kiss. Not some sevond rate gene n paul tribute show of the original kiss.

  13. Eddie you retweet your pro Ace and Peter stance AGAIN by retweeting what Ace and Peter “perceive” to be that Gene and Paul say they can’t cut it anymore. I listen and tune in,and read what Gene and Paul are saying and they have NOT said that. Eddie you seem like a good enough guy but you ALWAYS take and defend Ace And Peter’s side of everything. KISS was one of your favorites growing up and Gene and Paul were just as much a part of that magical lineup you were mesmerized by. How can you take such comment and laugh in interviews with Ace and Peter about Current kiss and about Gene and Paul and feel like Gene or Paul could even trust u to be neutral. You aren’t neutral and you wouldn’t be like that to Paul and Gene if they constantly came on your radio shows and on TMS and any other thing you do. But because kiss stays busy, making albums,on tour, and chose not to do your stuff you come off as sore and biased because Gene and Paul don’t come play with the almighty Eddie Trunk. What gives you the right to downplay a single thing Paul and Gene do…your 30 years???…..Gene and Paul have 40…

    • Sorry I can’t retweet what Gene and Paul post because Gene blocked me from his Twitter for no reason after looking me in the face and saying he had no problem with me. Sadly you don’t read ALL of what I say and write, only what serves your purposes. And after 130 episodes of TV do you really think it matters if Kiss is on my show? It is the FANS that ask us for them, and after all, it is all about the fans right? You are so off base in your perception of what I really say and do in ALL ERAS of Kiss it is laughable. But believe what you want..

      • Lately Paul and Gene have been getting negative comments on their twitters stemming from their refusal to perform with Ace and Peter at the HoF and Gene slamming Hip-Hop in HoF.

    • Bob Esssrin says:

      Good post, Chad.

    • Joe Pensanti says:

Chad had a big ass bowl of sourball soup for dinner, methinks…

    • Gene and Paul always seems angry about Eddie because he is friendly with Ace and Peter while Gene and Paul are obviously not. Eddie has extended for both G&P to appear on his show, and they both refuse.

For me, it’s sort of hard to on team Gene and Paul when they behave so boorishly.

Eddie is right Chad, you need to read a bit more about what Gene and Paul are saying….

      • Joe Pensanti says:

G&P refuse to appear on TMS because they cannot control what happens. Let’s face it, the majority of KISS fans in the TMS crowd are fans of the original band. It wouldn’t fly with G&P.

  14. Looking forward to this show as well!

Loved looking at King Paul’s Twitter feed- a fan just asked Paul if he was planning on watching Peter on TMS this Saturday and Paul fired back with ‘That show is Wayne’s World.. No.’

The more Paul and Gene talk or Twitter I should say, the more they look like unappreciative dipwads.

I don’t know what his problem is with TMS. Paul should stay off of Twitter. It makes him look like a spoiled kid and out of touch with the world.

    • Bob Esssrin says:

His twitter comments are damn funny. They make him look like a funny guy.

      • I have many times called us Wayne’s World. Hugely popular movie, very popular TV show. It’s a compliment to me!

        • Wayne’s World was funny as hell, and I’m thinking Paul and Gene should start their own basement cable TV show about old rockers who still keep ‘partying on’. Their sign off could be:

          ‘Party on Gene’

          ‘Party on Paul’

  15. Only thing good about Peters drum solos was that it presented an opportunity to go to the restroom. It was nice because between that and Beth, you had two chances during a KISS show to go to the bathroom without missing anything.

    • John, what a misinformed opinion you have. You’re entitled to it, but way off base.

      • Ivan there is no such thing as a misinformed opinion. It’s how I feel and not based on any other information, that’s what makes it my opinion. And my opinion is I would rather hear the sounds of toilets flushing then listen to Peter’s drum solo or Beth and usually most of the people that I attended KISS concerts with held that same opinion.

  16. Paul Stanley was asked on Twitter this morning if he was going to watch the upcoming TMS episode with Peter. He referred to TMS as Wayne’s World and said he would not be watching, lol. The drama continues….

    • We call it Wayne’s World, so he must be watching!

      • Bob Esssrin says:

You have never referred to your show as Wayne’s World while on camera. Such BS.

        • I have in many interviews. Honestly I couldn’t care less. If you take offense to that comments than Paul just offended a HUGE part of his fans because they all watch the show. More Kiss shirts in our audience on a regular basis than just about any band. Not to mention if that’s intended as a shot our little Wayne’s World was good enough for Aerosmith, Sabbath, AC/DC, Axl Rose, Rush and many more!

  17. I love all eras of KISS but man – Paul Stanley can really be a fucking Baby at times.

  18. Make no mistake, the current lineup WILL be watching this. It’s too bad Ace had to cancel. Looking forward to seeing this episode nonetheless.

  19. Frank T. says:

How come we haven’t heard what Thomas Thayer & Eric Singer have to say about all of this? Has anyone asked either of them if they feel they belong in the RRHOF wearing Ace & Peter’s make-up? Maybe because most fans don’t give two shits about them? I respect & like Eric Singer out of the make-up. He came to the band during a very difficult time following the passing of Eric Carr & did a great job on Revenge, one of the best Kiss albums. He also played on the worst Kiss album, CarnivalOf Souls & then the 70′s tribute to the original line-up called Sonic Boom & then Munster which is not a good Kiss record at all. This whole wearing the originals make up is like saying to someone go put on Joe Montana’s jersey, throw on the helmet & play. No one will tell the difference. Please.

    • Joe Pensanti says:

We haven’t heard from Tommy and Eric because they are not allowed to speak unless Gene and Paul tell them they can. I don’t know about anyone else, but in recent pictures (last 2 years tops) of Eric he looks tired and bored, possibly fed up. I wonder what is going through his head…

  20. Joe Pensanti says:

Paul Stanley’s vocals in concert sound like a dying bullfrog struggling with a ballgag firmly entrenched in his mouth. Since 2008 he has sounded just awful. Yet charges people attending just the same. whatever happened to Paul’s stance of “If you cannot give your fans 100% every night you shouldn’t go out on tour”…? The milk has run dry and the cow is begging to be put down. And this is a 5 star general in the KISS Army since 1976 saying this. Eddie Trunk tells it like it is, always has, always does, always will. Stanley the Parrot can say what he wants, sure, but the bottom line is, he damn well knows that 6 minutes onstage with Ace and Peter performing will flush down the drain everything he and Gene have marketed as “Kiss” for the last 13 years. It is a Pandora’s Box they cannot control. I was at the ’95 Unplugged taping. I saw the unedited reaction in person. Stanley knows he cannot control this. And if Paulie cannot control something, nobody plays. Never mind the fact that he’s most probably nervous of his terrible vocals of late being heard worldwide, and especially in front of his peers. We, the fans, are the bosses, right? Well do your job, Gene and Paul. Give us a few tunes as The Four!

    • Makes me wonder about the true reasons why Paul and Gene would not perform with Ace and Peter at the reunion based on their recent shows we’ve seen.

    • Kiss Comic Book says:

Wow, I really didn’t know “5 star generals” in the Kiss Army could be so pejorative and personal. You really should look up the definition of the word “fan”. Why wouldn’t Paul want to control who plays and who doesn’t? You can’t understand that? Do you not have a job, life experiences, and an education? If you dedicate your life to something, you’re not going to let other people dictate how you operate and progress. Ohh you silly little man……

      • Joe Pensanti says:

Kiss Comic Whatever: I pay their bills. I have spent thousands of dollars on them. Does it give me the right to control their career? Of course not. But I am in the majority, pal. And the majority want to see The Four play one more time. That isn’t a lot to ask.

        • Leon Sphinx says:

Did someone put a gun to your head and force you to spend that ridiculous amount of money? That was your choice. By your logic, you should be able to tell Walmart how to run their business because you shop there. Ridiculous!

          • No, but as a consumer you should have some input as to what they put on their shelves. This is sort of the same thing. The fans want to see the original four play.

  21. Eddie, I don’t know if you’ll answer this or not, but what are your thoughts on Gene and Paul constantly running down Ace and Peter? Especially since this Hall of Fame debacle.

Everyday on Twitter Paul and Gene both retweet bashes about Peter and Ace and often add their two cents.

Though Peter and Ace no doubt screwed up, and they both admit it, I wonder how they feel about Gene and Paul being to condescending and negative. Both men seem to have cleaned up their acts and though made grievous errors in their youth, I would think Gene and Paul would be ‘man enough’ to stand up for their original bandmates and not allow the bashing and not participate in it.

Though Gene would just say he’s validating ‘the truth’ the truth is known and it doesn’t need to be kept passing around on the internet like it happened yesterday. It’s like Gene and Paul love to gloat about Ace and Peter’s downfall and problems. Yet never at any time did Gene or Paul tell them they needed to get help or to clean up their act or put the screws to them to clean up. Seems Gene and Paul just let them do whatever and now they crucify them on every corner because of it.

I wonder how Ace and Peter will feel about accepting the induction with Gene and Paul? If it were me I’d have a hard time being civil to them both, the way they have acted over the last two months.

  22. KISS feuding is stale and tiresome. Time should be spent celebrating the band, the institution, the way of life, etc. known as KISS.
People should keep in mind that inflated egos and self-absorbed personalities can be as impairing and intoxicating as drugs and alcohol. I would rather read about what Ace, Peter, Gene and Paul “did”, as opposed to what these former band mates say other members “didn’t” do. Telling the world in 2014 who or whom should be given credit for the song “Beth” which appeared on a massively successful 1976 album is a classic example of a nonsensical approach to a celebration of 40 years of KISS. That’s what happens when ego reaches larger than life size proportions (to use Gene’s language from Second Coming). The fans want a celebration, not irrelevant, ongoing criticism of any of the founding members of KISS.
